Sherwood out for Texas X-Fighters

The Texas round of the Red Bull X-Fighters will be an Australian affair, after we received word that Levi Sherwood has pulled out to address a knee injury.

While Cam Sinclair and Robbie Maddison will continue to fly the Aussie flag, New Zealand's Sherwood is set to sit on the sidelines for the next four weeks after popping his knee out while training just over a week ago.

"The doctors have said there's a bit of bone floating around underneath his knee-cap, and if he doesn't get it addressed it'll keep getting worse," Levi's dad, Dave, told Freerider MX this morning. "At this stage it looks like he'll be out for four weeks but is hopeful to be back in time for the Madrid round of the X-Fighters."

At this stage it's too early to tell if the 17-year-old will be back in time for X Games, but Dave said they'll be doing everything in their power to get him back before the world's most prestigious action sports event.

"Of course if he only gets back on a bike the week beforehand and can't practice, then there's a possibility he won't ride it," Dave says. "But at this stage he should be back in time, even if Red Bull has to fly him to their training facility in Austria to speed things up a bit."

Levi is supposed to hear from the specialists in a few days as to exactly how long he'll be off the bike, but as soon as we hear any more news, we'll pass it along to you.
