the word is that kawasaki is still making the KX 125, but they will not bring any to North America. i think its the begining of the end for 2 strokes

the introduction of the aluminum frame on the yz helped sell a lot. i hope they dont die out, but its hard to compete with us four-bangers

The 250f has spelled the end for 125's. But 2 stroke 250's will live on for a long while yet, so dont worry too much. |

i dont know with everyone dropping their 125's i would only give 250's a few more years before they get dropped off the list of bikes being sold.

doesnt really bother me. its the buyers who are killing off the 125s. i mean how many people still buy them new? A: very few.

if anyone here has the chance to ride a 05 250f, and an 05 yz125( fastest 2 stroke 125 for this year) back to back you will see why no one is buying 125's and they are going off the market. the 250f pulls harder earlier, is less picky about witch gear you run it in, and requires far less clutch work. The 125 has one advantage, it weighs a few pounds less, but with aluminum framed 4 storkes that won't last long eather. the 125 is being phased out b/c the 250f is faster, and in a world of racercs (myslef included) faster is better.
The dinosours died b/c they could not adapt, the 2 stroke will also die. |

the only reason 2 strokes are being phased out is because of stupid AMA rules. the first one is the Unleaded gas rule. It is completely pointless, and its kills 2 strokes, but doesnt affect 4 stokes at all. The second one is the rule that states 4 strokes up to 250cc can be run in the 125 class and 450cc in the 250 class. If the AMA allowed 2strokes to be bored out to a max of 250cc in the 125 class and 450cc in the 250 class, then the 2 strokes would still be the dominant bike.
