09 CRF 450 Hard to start

My CRF is sooo hard to start especially when hot ive looked around on the net about fuel filters and remapping but wandered if anyone on here has had this problem and fixed it?
It has always been hard to start and I have also recently rebuilt the engine so the mechanical parts are all good.

Some of the 09s had a parts recall, might want to check and see if your VIN matches. Other then that, valves.

The 09s have a lot of problems with the fuel pump. My buddy had one that the furl pump wouldnt stay primed. I'm guessing an o ring was bad or something and the fuel would leak back down. Jus changed the fuel pump problem solved.

Put 12 volts to the fuel pump and then kick it. If it starts right up, then ur pump is leaking down. If you have a friend with a fuel inj Honda, just swap the tanks and try that...I had the same issue on my 09, it was the fuel pump leaking back.

I've had crf's most of my riding life. Learnt a few things about these bikes along the way. Basically the minute you need to start shimming valves to gain proper spec they are on their way out, you will be forever repeating the process. Replace them with some decent ones. I go <50hrs on a top end depending on how hard I have been riding it. With freeriding and ramping the load put on these bikes is fairly minimal compared to racing so I'm not as concerned.

Be preventitive. Fix a top end or wait and fix top and bottom end.
