Also, doing it this way makes it much easier to fold up, er, down, onto the lower section. The weight transfer works in your favor. OP, try it even though the top is much longer than the bottom. It will probably amaze you. Not a big deal with this half sized ramp but after you put your top material on the weight will add up...

Wow, I wouldnt have bet money a full sized ramp would fold up into a truck. Good advise, and yes the sheet and expanded metal will add quite a bit of weight. In fact i hope it ads a lot , the way it is now it would move way to easy.

That is common so just pick up some 1" x 2 " surveying stakes and drive them into the ground as needed. If you know someone in construction they would probably give you a handful of these.
They only need to go into the ground a few inches, maybe a little more if you have good loam or sandy dirt.
