The dudes @ FMX East Rock!!!

So the first thing I wanted to talk about in my blog was the fact that the FMX East Challenge is the radest thing going. I think that Pro/Am comps in FMX is a great idea, I know if the had them when I started out on bikes 10 years back I would have been a regular on them. Before I get into my blabbering about how I would like to see it grow too and the future of FMX, let me make one thing CLEAR.....I understand that there is probably insurance, $$$, having enough riders issues etc. This blog is basically all my wishful thinking.

Like I was saying, The FMX East Challenge is great, finally a place for AMs to start going at in comps. I think this is the start to a big thing....maybe something like AM motocross racing???? I know that seems like a stretch, but you know what, every motocross racer loves airing out the biggest jump on the track and throwing a clicker or one hander!!!! Every racer has a bit of freestyler in them. Before FMX East, I am not sure they were ever able to compete..... I know when ever there was a half-time "jump-off" I would be all over it. And I would feel like a rockstar doing the worst cliff hangers and supermans ever seen but I had fun.

Lets say for every ten racers (14 yrs old and up) you have in the AMA~ you have one that can trick (whip, clickers, nothings, nacnac, etc) and would be interested in competing in AM freestyle comps.......that is a good start in numbers. The AMA has something like 60 districts. I am not saying have that many. Maybe 1 district per state or combine the smaller states to start. At first you can have one event per year ( District Championships ) and just let it grow. For me living in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada. (middle of nowhere) I will probably not make it out to GA or OH that much ~if ever~ but if there was district comps in Minnesota and Wisconsin...I am THERE!!!!!

Classifications and Formats (I am pretty sure FMX challenge is similar)

Open Expert, A, B, C class (no flips in B and C)

Open Expert- Full course and a 1.5 minute run

A- 2 ramps hits, 1 Dirt hit and you can take 6 jumps (5 best tricks count) ( Only 1 flip trick counts)

B- 2 ramps hits, you can take 5 jumps (no flips)

C- 1 ramp hit {with a uncaseable landing} 5 Jumps

Big Air and Whip Comp for Open Ex/A Class

Whip Comp for B

Whip Comp for C

Obviously I am just throwing ideas out there, it would be fine tuned. FMX is freaking huge now. Its just a matter of time before something like this happens. I can't wait. Hopefully years down the road when I have kids I can watch them be all amped about packing up the truck to go to their first FMX comp.

It would be nice if the AMA sanctioned this, but its doubtful.................so this leaves the door for some brave soul that wants to start something that will take time to grow.......

Any TakeRS??????

Cheers from Canada,
