I only use 3/4" - #9 (as in 9 gauge wire) - Raised.
There are people putting this on differently than I but this is how I apply it with hopes of longer wearing tires. You will have to cut the sheet in half in order to get it to lay correctly.

Try this pic.

what are you talking about when you distinguish high/low side??? I don't get it. Are you trying to tell which side to lay the expanded metal on?

are you using RAISED EDGE expanded mesh?

yes, I have not actually delt with the raised edge expanded metal so I'm guessing what slider means is there's like a grip side to it?? Anyways I got all the metal ordered today.

Slider my buddy and I are planning to just lay down the 9 guage 3/4" raised expanded metal for the face. Shouldn't that do??? The ramp isn't going to be hit constantly by lost of people.
Also if not good enuff, i could just add more crossmembers, wouldn't that work? Thanks

Also if anyone else just has expanded metal for surface let me know how it does and what guage it is and ".

Put a full layer of sheet metal down first. Some people use mesh only but who wants to see through a ramp? They use much thicker expanded metal than #9. Seems like that would be hard to judge. The metal will add strength to the ramp.

well its kinda nice to see your landing when begging hitting a ramp and how thick of a guage do u think i should use for expanded metal only?
thanks

yea, both nex ramps just have expanded mesh and sometimes its a bit off putting being able to see through cause sometimes coming up u cant help but look at the see through ramp and not concentrate on the jump. its nothing serious but it would be better with sheet metal underneath

andrewmx, if you are jumping a ramp, you should be able to see the landing anyways, it should be atleast a few feet taller than the ramp

yea i see where ur going sholin, but I meant when like the first time I hit it (like say I put it at 50ft. then 65, and so on) it's kinda nice to see the landing for me. Like I got this 75ft. stepup and it game me confident when I was starting out jumping. I'm not pro or anything but that step-up shot my confidence up.

And crusty yea I know, i gots sliders landing layout.
thanks guys

oh and sholin, what gauge or thickness expanded metal (i don't know how u Aussie's measure thickness) and i do have a conversion chart

Ya im kinda curious if i just wanted to use the mesh what gauge would it be too? I want to make a trailer out of my ramp and i dont want the wind to cut in on my gas milage. so the just straight expanded mesh would be sweet. If you realy dont recomend it then i wont do it slider but, if i can get away with it please tell me how? Peace

On my new ramp, pics soon, I had 2 layers of plywood each half inch so it would bend. Bolted on to the frame. Then the expanded mesh on top. I tacked the mesh with loads of 7mm staples. And it works realy well. It does pull slightly but once youve been going over it for a day the streaching stops.

Do ramps get any bigger than 8ft ? (competition wise)
What size are the gaps in competition?

depending on the ramp, usually between a 60 to 90ft gap.

Most of the indoor IFMA comps are around 70 or so i think?
