A street legal MX bike - KTM300EXC, or a super motard VOR - gotta have a dirt bike for the street

i want a lil crotch rocket street bike with the ducati 996 body style. now those are sick:p

Ducati's are the best LOOKING bikes...but the Honda FireBlade, Yamaha R1 and the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 all outperform the Duc and do it for half the price. wait....Performance Bikes magazine even said that the Suzuki GSX-R750 (!!!!) can beat the Ducati 996 or the new 998. and thats almost 250cc's down in displacement. i think that says a lot.
but its really all about what YOU like to ride the most. personally my favorite bike is the R1...but id rather have a FireBlade for everyday driving. the R1 would be great for kickin around downtown or doin sick highway blasts....but the FireBlade does all that just as well AND you can take it on relatively long trips with much more comfort than the R1.

R1's are fully sick! They do the quarter mile in like 10 flat, and that's outta the factory!
p00g0blin
March 23rd, 2002, 09:39 PM
R1's ARE my favorite bike..but give credit where credit is due...the Suzuki GSX-R1000 beats it in every category. acceleration...braking..handling...quarter mile. the suzuki is a SICK bike...but the new R1 is my favorite bike...and i still think it has the hottest looks. the ducati's are just getting repetitive....im bored with their styling...
The hyabusa does about 205 stock on a dry lake but is it ugly!!
Aprilla250 (two stroke) all the way, buy a new tire after every ride:) ducatis are sweet esp. the MH900e

the hayabusa may have done that speed back when it was first introduced...but since 2001....all bikes are limited one way or another to 186mph, to comply with national law. any magazine/website/etc. that tests a 'busa or a ZX12 and claims speeds in excess of 186...is just looking for bragging rites.
a modified busa or any bike for that matter...can still pass the 200mph mark.....but none stock. in england...some guy has an R1 that does 231mph.

Ducati's look good. but unlike every other italian company (ferarri, lamborghini, aprilia) ducati just cant seem to make anything reliable. its pretty lame that in the year 2002, you buy an expensive bike and still have to worry about it breaking all the d*mn time. if i was gonna spend that kind of money for a bike id get the aprilia rsv mille. but if i had my bike of choice....id get the R1 no doubt in my mind. i think they are the best looking bike...and they back up the looks with speed and handling.

I am buying a RC51, to ride like to a party or to school, a lot faster and cooler. I just think it is dumb to wear the full body leather suits and stuff. just dickies a shirt and a nice lookin helmet wil do for me...(and mabey gloves, depending on the distance)

totally behind 84guy, the RC51 looks the best and is very fast. it is not the fastest bike but it doesn't matter that much because of restriction laws ( the fastest was made suzuki, the gsxr1300 but now kawasaki holds i with the zx11 (or zx12) it is the fastest out there but you would need a lot of room that has no cops to get that power out.

I gotta agree the kawi 12's are fastest! And whats all this R1 stuff! They are crap! They twitch on the front brake and are only good for possin on!
I had a mate who got his bike in streetfighters! 89 GSXR 1100! He added some jet engine fluid! I went like a rocket! But not for long!!! hahaha
I ain't a big lover of street bikes! That all in one leather thing just looks ###!

now here is an interesting question....Im gonna have to say that these are two different classes. this would be like comparing a yz 250 to a wr 426..two different types. For a street bike.,...I would have to say the Honda f4 or f4i or a kawasaki zx-6r. but for a Harly. a fatboy 1300 for sure...!

ok..here ya go. this is actually the MV Augusta F4 Senna. its a special edition version of the F4. like it needed a friggin special edition. the bike is already in the guggenheim museum as the first piece of motorcycle "art". oh well...picture this bike in mostly silver and some red at the top and you've got the stock F4.

ok...my last post didnt seem to work. well...this is the MV Augusta F4 Senna....its a special edition version of the F4. picture this bike as mostly silver and red and you've got the original F4. the F4 is a 750 and its the best looking bike ever....but its so unobtainable that i like the R1 better.

i weigh 220lbs...i dont know how much you weigh...but thats not the point. i rode an R1 for a few hours the other day....the front wheel was coming up in THIRD gear with me LAYING over the tank. point being....the R1 is the exact opposite of the GSXR1000. the GSX is super fast and very tame...very predictable. the R1 is super fast and very UNpredictable. watch yerself bro.
August 15th, 2002, 12:18 PM
The suzuki hayabusa gsx1000 is the fastest out there so i'll go with it. I did like the 1300 but i don't think they make that anymore.
p00g0blin
August 17th, 2002, 05:36 AM
yes..they make the 1300 still. but all bikes are limited to 186mph now...so top speed makes no difference..they all do about the same. and any thing you see or read saying the GSXR1000 went over 186...is a lie.

someone told me on a video it showed a cbr1100 getting passed at it was going like 180 by the hayabusa. he said it did it like the cbr was standing still. thats just awesome

The hayabusa -a gsx1300r- is rediculous. I think..the only people i know craziest to ride a hayabusa have either been riding for 10 years..or just have a death wish and some ###ken mega balls.
That reminds me...
I was down at Del Amo Motorsports about 8 months ago, and this cute like, 19-20 yr old blond girl comes in and she was looking at hayabusa. well the sales man walked over to her and were talking about the bike. Well, the story is her brother was jut turning 18 and likes streetbikes, but never owned one. THe salesman just kinda stepped back and looked at her and was like, how much do u love ur brother? she was like..a lot you know, thats why i want to buy the bike for him. THe guy just shook his head and looked at her and said...If u love your brother, you will not buy him this bike, It will kill him.
When I hear about smaller kids wanting to ride these huge ### bikes, it scares me. You know..there are a lot of young badass riders that have mad skill and i wont argrue that, but its a simple matter of POWER to WEIGHT. U can be sick and pull wheelies 5 miles long, but when it comes to it..how is a 150, i mean hell even a 180 lb kid gonna keep a bike down that has almost 200 hp. Im 225, and i know..for a fact..id have a problem keeping an r1 or a hayabusa on the ground when i get on it.
c'mon we all grab a handful of throttle, we are adrenaline junkies.
like p00 said..hey to each their own, i just dont necessarily see the need for so much power without the experience or size. 600's and 750's are fun too..remember!

I'm gonna revive this thread for a moment, the idea of wearing just a dickies shirt and a helmet while riding is the single dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life, I was wearing jeans, jacket, gloves and boots when I lowsided, and I'm still torn to hell, jeans don't do much, but they're better than shorts, the jacket is crucial, if I hadn't been wearing it, I'd be in the hospital getting skin grafts everywhere. Please, to everyone on this board, you wear the proper gear while riding mx, don't be dumb on the street, you'll get killed even faster. And to agree with Jeff from earlier in the thread, yeah, any 16 year old on a litrebike and most on a 600 supersport equals a 500lb suicide sled

have you actually ridden a Hayabusa? the damn thing is a boat, heavy, heavy, heavy, anything can go fast in a straight line, it's in the curves where it counts and I've seen countless Busas get passed and left behind by gixxer 600's and r6's

Nope , the gsxr 600 is slower than the r6.

November 12th, 2002, 09:13 PM
yeah but big deal, you're talking about slower and faster in terms of fractions of seconds, no offense to anyone here, but it matters very little. if you can handle the bike in turns and launch it off the line well, all manufacturers bikes are pretty much equal in their classes, hell, sometimes, you can even take a smaller bike (sv :D ) and leave behind a f4i in the twisties, hehehehe, of course then other times, you fall :m16:

haha...a 'busa doin 230+? not anymore bro...ALL bikes limited to 186mph! some mag tested the GSX-R1000 and said it was showing 201mph...then another mag put it to the test...video taped it...proved it...the bike IS limited to 186mph..so is the 'busa. a few words...dont believe the hype.

ducati performance suck, i know, ive ridden them. honda makes awesome smooth bikes. kawi makes rattly type streetbikes. dont feel as solid. best stock trackbike like p00g said, GSXR750. i worked in a shop with all bike freaks, i had ducatis all to the left of me, hondas and kawis to the right. bikes all over the place. honda VTR1000 fireblade......scary scary fast bike! insane!

well on the race track they might have an edge over Honda, but if I was gonna buy a bike, I'd buy the CBR series, their power delivery and handling is nicer than the GSXR series and the Honda reliability is so much better than the R6(constant battery leak) and R1(what doesn't go wrong)
Insane
November 13th, 2002, 09:44 AM
Im a honda man through and through.. Owned a honda almost all my life, both road and dirt and I own a couple honda dirt bikes at the moment but I after having the chance to ride some crazy road bikes over the last few years and trashing the hell out of my own Suzuki GSXR600... I reckon off the floor the Suzuki GSXR 1000 is the best bike out there... I've riden R1's, Blades, Ducati's you name it and I've riden it and tried to break it and the GSXR 1000 is the best bang for your buck you can buy.. Handles like a train and goes like a bullet. In comparision the latest off the floor blade for example handles like a kings cross hooker, loose, especially on the track. The newest blade retail in Australia for around $17,500 and the price for GSXR1000 is around $14,990... I reckon the cheaper bike is the way to go in this case...
This is of course is just my 2 cents worth... ;)
BTW If your in road bikes checkout a few of my GSXR600 burnouts... ;)

i have 3 close friends that own r1s and they have never had problems. i would take the R1 anyday. the only thing i like the honda better for is its comfort (anyone 6' or over is hurtin pretty quickly on the R1) and its ease of use around town. the honda is an awesome bike to ride anywhere...not just the highway or twisty backroads.
