just make sure you make your jumps and landings about 3ft taller than you actully want them that way the dirt will pack down to the size you like and when you build them pack them down ever like 5-10 shovels or so to keep it from sinking when you hit it and if your making a pack be sure to steepen the landing to give you plenty of speed and also learn how to pump in bowls

i wanna make some bmx jumps to this year. my friend has a mx track and theres a hill that goes down and we use that for bmx and to pack it we just get it muddy then pack it with shovels.
whats "pump in bowls"?

i had a bunch of nice BMX hits until i plowed them for my FMX compound.....all i can tell you is make em big...believe it or not big ones are more safe...because bailing on a BMX bike is nothing, and its easy to bail on big jumps, but little jumps...you have no choice but to hang on to the bike and fall flat on ur face....
hope this helps

if your new at bmx, then i normally would say start small, with tabletops and stuff, but beings your a freestyler, your used to being that high. build your lips about 6 feet high, and make the gaps 10 to 15 feet with a safety deck thing on the landing. At this hight you should be able to do plenty of tricks.

Also what depends on making jumps is if you want trails type jumps, or like big jumps for tricks. for flowing trails, you dont want your lips too steep or you will lose your speed.

I dunno, ive got 12 jumps at my house, 3 6-packs and a few transfers here and there. My biggest gap to date is 27 feet. Pretty far off of like a 4 foot lip. It was supposed to be a double to tabletop, i did the whole thing. it was tooo nice. But back to you building ramps. jus start out however you want, and it will take a while, but whatever you build, it will more then likelly get bigger in time.

pumping in bowls is like okl when you got a steep landing and the gap inbetween you jumps is like bowled out like dug out to push down on your bike and it gives it way more speed and when you jump you catch alot more air. its kinda hard for me to explain but if you watch a bmx race they do it alot or is you watch bmx jumpers doing packs they or most of them pump their bikes
