we just used a peice of wood and taped it really good to the bottom of the forks, its worxs really good. For padding we just used those water noodle things with the hole in the middle , i just cut a slot down one side and slipped it over like a handle bar pad.

the first tramp bike i had we had electrical tape holding on a popped footy on the dropouts of the forks...
and then we had a hessian bag held on by electrical tape on the rear dropouts...this proved to not work as the hessian bag ripped thru and the rear dropouts tore holes on the mat...and because the bottom brakcet (where the cranks go) had nothing on it, it also tore holes...we learnt from this...
so the one we have now has a deflated footy on the fork dropouts held on by GAFFA TAPE and a #### load of it...the bottom bracket has a whole heap of foam gaffa taped on, and the rear dropouts have cut up tennis balls on each side, then foam all around the rear triangle as well as underneath the bike everywhere...having foam on the side of the rear triangles helps, cos it's soft for u to pinch, as well as the seat...
