I agree with Bryan but you have to know your stuff if you charge good $. I paid a person 20 bucks US per hour for the hessian aggression web site and did all of the graphics and layout for her. She had to make our ideas work and had several good ideas of her own too. Total cost was only about 400 US for her work. She went to school on it to learn new things and did not charge for time spent learning.

Hey crusty if ya need and tech ####, i'll do it. I make my sites for everyone basically free.
I usually just get a shirt or some stickers or something. No more free sites tho, for a site, $300 AUS.

If you shop around, the industry standard rate for competent, experienced web design with no foo foo like shopping carts and stuff like that goes for $39/hr US. A bit higher and lower for normal competitive rate type stuff. That is what we have found after doing a LOT of shopping around. :D

Its no that hard :) If you have an idea, then get to work, your site layout can be done in 5 minutes. I did my new one (crusty go on MSN I wanna show you it!) in about 30 mins, and its fairly clean and I like it, thinking of an idea is the hard part.
Just do it yourself.
