I grew up listening to Bob Segar and Rod Stewart and stuff (my dad listened to it). Then When I was like 8, I started liking greenday, aerosmith and some rap (because of my older sister). Then when I was about 12, I started listening to a hardcore band that practiced in their garage about 2 houses up from me (xUnconqueredx). After talking with some of those guys, they started introducing me to stuff like Morning Again and Regression and other hardcore bands. And that is where I am at now. Hardcore and metal. Mostly hardcore.

rock!...Pearl Jam, U2, Live, Pumpkins, The Offspring, Nirvana, Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Metallica, Oasis, Rage Against The Machine...

i only got into metal about three years ago, but it's basically the only thing i listen to now. i still have my total respect for true rock (as i still pull out the albums every now and again, to reflect on such a great era), such as the bands up there and more during that era (except for Metallica), though i can say i never listened to any nu-metal/soft-#### metal before getting into metal. i just went straight into it.

long live rock...such a disgrace it is today

I grew up listening to whatever the parents had!
My mum was a big def lepard fan and had loads of old sabbath and deep purple stuff!
My dad was a big status quo fan!

First album I bought was metallica, the black album!

Hahaa, my parents both liked different things from each other. My mom liked The Carpenters when she was younger, shes also into Erasure and Concreate Blonde! My dad was REALLY into Rolling Stones.
I on the other hand liked crap...haha, the first tape I bought when I was SO YOUNG was Debbie Gibson. YES, I admit.....terrible music. Then in Jr High I got into Metallica and stuff, what a change huh?

Country...all country!

My dad was into the really good and classic country that told a story...Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Conway Twitty, George Jones, Charlie Daniels, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Desert Rose Band and then like all other country but mainly them. I still love that kind of good old country, its the new stuff that grates my nerves!

And as for the music my mom cranked out- I didn't like some of them then, now I can't get enough of these bands/singers, I seriosuly love them all now...Dr.Hook, Chris de Burgh, CCR, Rosanne Cash, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba McEntire.

I know that being raised on country has given me an undieing appreciation of country/folk music(except for the new stuff, most of that stuff is crap) even though country/folk isn't my main musical preference, I still love it and appreciate it! Has anyone else found this...the music they were raised on influenced what you like and listen to now and your appreciation for music??

Distrurbed, Bison, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Korn, Primer 55, Powerman 5000, Deftones, Superheist...most of the heavy music on all the moty vids...you know the stuff...sure, i've heard it, how can i miss it, it's everywhere, but that's not to say i like it one bit.

Rage Against The Machine is the only thing that came close to nu-metal for me...but back then it wasn't considered nu-metal, it was heavy rock with a twist, and was one of a kind. but it had no part in getting me into metal, so.
