no way are you wrong. words cant describe how far my jaw just dropped...oh man..that is so damn hot. and i LOVE JL Audio stuff. thats what im runnin in the truck now that i took out the Infinity Kappa's that were killing me. oh man oh man...i need to see that thing in real life. where did you get those pics?
thanks a bunch man..that made my headache filled day. :)

You don't like Kappa's??? Are you refering to the seperates or subs????
p00g0blin
October 18th, 2002, 02:00 PM
oh hell no..i friggin LOVE Kappa's...its all ill ever run for interiors. i have 6 6x8's in the truck for int.'s and then i had two 10" Kappa Perfect subs runnin off dual 500w alpine amps. it sounded so f'n tight....unbelievable. now...as an example..think of a blown speaker...know how it makes that torn paper sound when some bass hits it? well that is the noise my right ear makes when something loud hits it. i dont know if i blew an ear drum or something...but its kinda scary. so anyways...to save my hearing..i downsized to a single alpine amp and one JL Audio 10" sub. still sounds incredible...just not as heartpounding or irrating to my ears.

You can get the wallpaper there as well p00g. Amazing stuff, JL has always been the leader!

well...i agree with you mostly. the Kappa Perfect subs are friggin amazing. they do so much with so little power...just an incredible creation. but JL's are definetly the all around king of the mountain. their amps and speakers are all superb. i could go on like this for hours...but dinner and beer awaits. thanks for the pics..and the link. :)

Infinity Kappa's are one of my all time favorites. I had to get some Alpine's for the front door's of Rubie the Subie (:D ) because the Kappa's were too deep. That upset me to no ends, I briefly considered trying to re-fab my regulator or build a stop into em' that would only let the window go down half-way. I kinda wish I did now, the Alpines are decent, but nothing compared to any Infiniti I've heard.....

yeah...the Kappa's are way better than the alpine speakers. alpine is one of my favs for amps...not much else. for interiors..i didnt have to mod anything for my kappas..thankfully....but if i had to....i would have..the sound is worth it. those speakers are a friggin dream come true for definition and depth. expensive...but worth it.

yall seam to know alot about car audio...I have a question, I have a single cab truck and I'm kinda short so I have seat pulled up and an 8' Bass tube and a 100w Jensen amp, and it has alot of deep ringing that makes my head hurt. How can I stop or atleast ease the ringing some and not loose my bass tone?
p00g0blin
October 19th, 2002, 07:27 AM
two suggestions...and i dont wanna sound snotty. i would lose the bass tube..switch over to a truck style sealed box...move up to a 10" as well. then upgrade the quality of the amp. suggestions would be; Alpine, JL, MTX...brands like that...middle to top shelf quality products. MTX amps are almost always rated to give you about 30% more power than they say they do...its like a free gift. :) yeah..the MTX amps can get LOUDDDDDDDDD...good sound too. ok..back to yer question....there is ringing coming from the stereo? check your wires...maybe upgrade them...monster cables do great. make sure your amp power wire and RCA wires are running on the opposite sides of the car. does it only happen when you rev the engine? or is it all the time? sometimes you need to get these noise blocker things...cuz engine noise can creep into the stereo even if everything is done right. who installed the system?
and heres a good site to research your purchases. www.crutchfield.com

actually....crutchfield is like free tech support...they are so damn nice to their customers...you could prolly call them up..say you need to talk about amps cuz your stereo is making a whining sound....he would probably tell you the reason for the problem before trying to get you to buy a new amp. problem solved. :)

yeah, your right... I need to upgrade bad, I just don't have the money at the moment( only 15) and it is the subby that makes the ringing, sterio sounds great when I don't have the amp on (toggled). And when the truck is going it doesn't affect it any, but I guess it might do that because the single cab is acting kinda like a big second speeker box er something. And about how much would a 1 or 2 channel 300 er so watt MTX cost?

the one im about to post a pic of is $349.99....crutchfield has it in stock. here is the site for all the info.
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-VwXBwETiQs1/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=110&I=236T8302&o=m&a=0
its 75x2 and 300x1. i dont doubt it would put out more though.

October 19th, 2002, 01:55 PM
here's the deal...you get that amp..some monster cable wires...and then a JL Audio sub (if you want damn good sound for a pretty decent price) or you get an Infinity Kappa Perfect if you want the ultimate thumps and super high quality sound. i dont wanna say anything bad about JL..cuz i use it....its just that the Kappas are a step above everyone....but its also like $199 for a 10" with no box. that amp and the JL with give you really tight sound...you'll love it....that amp and the Kappa with give you tight head pounding sound...that you might get sick of after awhile...but in the beginning...you will be the envy of all your friends. ;)

I like the square 10" kicker solobarics, and an orion red amp!!
GOod combo
p00g0blin
October 19th, 2002, 03:37 PM
im not a fan of those solobarics. but lots of people like them. that added surface area does nothing for the sound in my opinion. one friend with a sealed 15" solobaric...pushed by the same 500w alpine amp i use VS another friend with 2 10" Kappa Perfect subs pushed by an Infinity Beta Digital 1000w amp. the latter with the 2 Kappas destroyed that solobaric. it never had a chance....kicker just doesnt produce the quality that Infinity or JL does.
but as always..this is getting so damn repetitive...to each his own. i respect everyones opinions...i wont try and tell people which sub to buy...its all personal opinion.

oh yeah..i wont argue with Orion amps though....i like them a lot. the ones ive seen used are friggin bulletproof..and never ever die.

Im also not a fan of the solo barics, they tend to sound flat to me. But I have yet to hear any in a GOOD box.
Best subs I heard to date were a toss up between, my 2 8"inch Infiniti kappa perfects, 4 JL10W6's (VERY loud and clean)
and maybe the best was the top of the line eclipse series, WOW!!!
p00g0blin
October 22nd, 2002, 02:49 PM
im not really into eclipse..they make some NICE lookin head units though. thats for damn sure. im a pioneer head unit, alpine amp, JL or Kappa sub, Kappa interiors and monster cable kind of guy. :) i absolutely love the high end Pioneer decks...and the animation is cool too. i like mine...but chuck has the newer one i want...bastard.

Same here, Premier (sp? damn I suck at spelling) is all I have owned for about 6 decks now. Mosfet power, beautiful displays, and very easy to operate. Bulletproof as far as I'm concerned too, never had a single problem with them. That could be just real good luck though.
p00g0blin
October 22nd, 2002, 02:56 PM
nope..its all true. i had a premier tape deck for 5 years..beat the crap out of it...blasted it non-stop...sold it to my ex-boss when i got the CD one i have now...that was two years ago..i saw him the other day..he still has it in. he says he has never had a problem with it. thats pretty impressive. the one i have now doesnt like some cd's...but i think there is something wrong with the install..i have to check it out...it will skip when i shift sometimes...so i think a wire is running too close the the clutch. i just never get around to taking up that damn carpet again. i have it looking perfect...and i just dont wanna ruin it. ok...damn..that was longer than i meant it to be.
oh yeah..the eclipse head units..i lied. i just looked at their new stuff..i dont like it now. looks kinda blaupunkt-ish. their old ones were very stylish...classy as hell.
CanadianMX
October 22nd, 2002, 10:28 PM
p00g the new Blaupunkt decks rule! The tokyo and skyline series are amazing.
Anyways haha, yes the eclipse head units are kinda shotty looking but they are good.
And damn you have good taste I have a p6400 and no probs as of yet except for greasy chicken finger prints. (haha it was right after the install I know I know)
p00g0blin
October 23rd, 2002, 02:49 AM
the pioneers rule. what car is that? that interior looks like a newer version of mine. and the install is the same as mine except that my little holder thing is below the head unit.

um, man, my jaw hit the floor when i seen those JL Audio pics. that is absolutely incredible. i want that ####. but i dont have a vehicle, or much cash, so it kinda poses a problem. just a q, but whats the price run on those things? just curious man.
p00g0blin
October 26th, 2002, 10:40 PM
price on the JL W7's? um....prolly like $200 for a 10" sub and maybe like $249 er so for a 12" sub. those are the TOP OF THE LINE JL's...so dont expect a discount price. if JL could get away with only putting 2 10" subs in that car...then expect them to thump like none other...and if that is the case...expect to pay a ton of cash for them. :)

P00g for a 13.5 inch sub (yah I know weird size) it's about 700 dollars US retail. These subs ARN'T cheap.
One twelve is about 600
10's are 500.
It's crazy, but I was in a ford focus with ONE 10 inch and it was the most intense bass I have heard. Just flat out clean chest pounding bass, and in some riffs you could feel it through your whole body.
And that pic is of my 00 Ford Supercab.
p00g0blin
October 27th, 2002, 01:28 PM
damn...knew they wouldnt be cheap...the size of the surround should have told me it would be way more expensive than i was thinking. i wouldnt mind trying out one of those 10"s...but that would interfere with my saving money...so maybe after i move to cali.
