I have been thinking for awhile now about making a ramp for the summer.. But the thing is I dont know what is needed to make a ramp..

I'am wondering if all of you can help me out with the best decisions for building this ramp..

Here's the requirements that I would want / need:

- Portability.. I need to be able to attatch it to a hitch ( or another device ) and drive it to the sand bar, or compound..

- Stability.. Self explanatory

- Fairly Cheap.. The welding can probably be done at a low cost at my dads work.. The materials is what is going to cost me..

- Fairly Begginer Ramp.. I dont need a Seth Enslow, or Superkicker ramp.. Just a smooth, not high, distance jump.. I dont want to be rocket shiped into the air, nor throw 200 feet.. Keep that in mind please :D..

- PLANS.. At the moment I have no contacts that can supply me with ramp plans for a ramp of my liking, or any ramp at that matter..

- Landing Specs.. The central riding area for this ramp would be setup in soft dirt.. Its located on a sand bar that is highly populated by bikes.. I will have no problem finding the people to help with the landing, as they are always on hand, and are willing to help out other riders at all costs, 24 hours a day ( you know what I mean.. :) ) I will attach some pictures of the area, and some pictures of the dirt hits that are already there..

Fast replys are most welcome ( hehe )..
Contact me on icq @ #62211020 or msn @ kennyp15@hotmail.com if you would like to chat about this, but still post your help / ideas in this topic because then it will be publicly displayed for others with the same question as me..

Thanks a lot,

Dan

make sure you are really good at dirt hits before you make a ramp:)

hey..

Thanks for the replies..

First off - the Rev 1 doesnt look like its easily transported.. Or much of a distance / begginer ( put it this way, "not pro" ramp instead of begginer ) ramp.. I would want somthing smaller then that.. But about the size of these dirt hits in the pictures..

Oh, and I would make sure that I could do further and higher distances on dirt before I would try the ramp.. There is always people there, so they can help me out with tips on hitting them, and showing me how to set myself up properly..

well then i dont know what to tell ya cuz a ramp that's the size of that dirt take off in the pix isnt much of a ramp......

but i think i remember Slider saying that he's working on some measurments for a ramp kind of like what you're wanting...its a 'jumping ramp' instead of a 'freestyle ramp'...so you'll have to contact him for that one...

Nope..

Ive been riding for years.. But I started getting serious about it last summer.. Thats when I got my 125..

But thats alright.. I have to learn sometime.. I want it to be exactly like a dirt jump, except its going to be metal.. Its just a different experience.. Plus, Ill let everyone who wants to hit it if they want to.. Ill make sure they have some skill first, because I dont want any legal issues on me! hehe

And after I get used to it.. I can build another.. But larger.. Its a learning experience

That would work for a jump ramp.

Be sure to move the axle back, way back. There MUST be a 60/40% weight distribution or your tow vehicle will sway. That is 60% of the weight in front of the axle, 40% in back of the axle. Heavier in front is OK but NEVER lighter.

I would have to switch the hitch around, wont I? Otherwise I would be stuck changing the hitch each time I goto jump it, because it will stick out just before the ramp..

Should I make it fold-able? If so, how do you do that..

Thanks slider + others

i just made the hitch on my ramp and it just fastens to the ramp with 2 3/4 inch bolts and you take one out when you want to swing it out of the way.

RM RIDER, I'D SAY YOUR BEST BET IS LISTENING TO WHAT SLIDER HAS TO SAY. HE IS MAKING A JUMP RAMP AS STATED ABOVE. HE HAS BUILT NUMEROUS RAMPS AAND HIS RAMPS HAVE BEEN COPIED NUMEROUS TIMES. SINCE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ISNT A TRICK RAMP, GO WITH SLIDER, AND I THINK IT IS WORTH IT TO PAY $200 AND HAVE HIM SEND YOU A DETAILED PLAN OUTLINE, IF YOU ARE TO MAKE IT YOURSELF! GOOD LUCK
