Take some advice, dont build a small ramp(beginner ramp) cause your going to spend aleast $200 on it, and then your going to jump it couple of times and hate it cause your not getting very high or going very far. also if you think your not ready to jump a real ramp, then you shouldent jump any ramp, wate until you have alot of practice on big dirt jumps and have good control of your bike.
jumpen ramps are harder than it looks. you cant just go out and hit a ramp. theres alot of little things that if you dont know before you jump you might get hurt, like when your going on a ramp you want to get the speed you need to clear the jump on you way up to the ramp then let off for right before you get to the ramp than turn the gas on smooth on the face off the ramp. if you blimp it(let off the gas) on the face of a ramp your going to wreck.
also dont get pressured into jumpen a ramp, the frist time i jumped a ramp i was at andy jones's house riding with Jimmie McGuire, Todd Clayborn, Kenny Bartam, and Andy Jones, so i felt like i have to jumped it, but then they told me the worst thing to do was get pressured into jumping it. so i wated until i felt ready we moved the ramp to 40ft and i jumped it, and i kept jumping it intil i felt good on it the moved it back to 70ft then back to 80ft, so make sure you do it in steps. and this was a FREERIDE TECH. ramp so it was full size ramp.

just take it slow and be safe!

thats what ive bene trying to say all along. no one wants a beginner ramp, they just dont think they are ready for a full sized. if you are not ready for a full sized ramp, then dont sweat it, go practice, get better, then go tear ramps up. believe me, youll be glad you didnt jump ramps step by step. if yourm ready get a full sized ramp(8ft-81/2) and scoot it up!

I have been hammered the past couple months via emails about this exact subject. I have replied to most of these emails and have decided that these people really don't want a beginner FMX ramp, but a ramp. Dirt hits get torn up and a ramp will hold up under thousdands of hits.

Due to this, I am working on measurements for a small ramp. This will be up in January. It will be touted as a Jump Ramp, not a beginner FMX ramp.

I agree with the above about jumping and building a beginner FMX ramp. Good advise above. I have found a ramp just don't work for FMX if under 7' tall, regardless of the gap.
