i built a ramp (Rev 1) and it is so sweet and i have never been so
high before but i am landing very hard. my bikes in great shape but it almost bottoms everytime i land. i am only hitting it at about 20 feet from the landing so im not going very fast. im not into pysics (hell i cant even spell it) but if i am going forward faster it'll land smoother right? my landing ramp is too small (about 4 feet tall) but some of you guys a going like 25 feet in the air with 9 foot tall downslopes right? well im like 11 or 12 with a 4 foot tall downslope so i dont see why im landing so hard. when you guys hit like 70 footers on the ramps if everything is perfect do you land hard? im landing perfect on the landing and it still is hard. any advice?

LOL, a 4ft high landing is barely enuf for a 30ft double :D
Take some advice from someone who didnt bother to take the time to make a huge landing, and paid the price for it. My landing was around 8ft high, at a 45ft gap, and that was a bit of a hard landing.
IT should be atleast 12 feet high for safety, ramps jsut send you so high up.
The pic attached is silider's minimum recommended specs for a landing for the rev.1

there was some dirt already there, like the stuff infront of the landing, but i'd say 75% was dug up with the kubota

One of my ramp rentals went to a show this past weekend and the promotor did not have enough dirt for a good landing. He "made" the riders hit the stupid 6' tall landing at 50' on Rev.2. One rider, Roy, flatlanded and was too far back due to this and stuck the throttle on and smacked a wall. Broken Navicular and badly bruised knee.
The other riders told the promotor they would not jump at 50 to this landing and managed to move it to 30'. ### show for FMX at 30' but at least the remaining riders did not get hurt.
Never give in to a promotor if you can't get a good landing. Walk away or be taken away on a stretcher. Roy jumped one time, got hurt and did not get paid. A couple thousand bucks at the local hospital - Minimum of 3 months to heal - a lifetime of pain due to a navicular fracture. This is the injury that ended Ricky Johnson's career.

I agree with you slider but what is a navicular?

that sucks. the navicular is a bone in your wrist that never seems to heal right.

heh.. to think about it my stepdad fixes welders, he fixes them for heaps of boat manufacturing places like stessels, hains and hunter etc
hmm i could probably get a ramp made for cheap from one of them since he knows them so well.. thing is i don't have anywhere to ride it
