hey buddy, maybe u shouldnt start doing these shows untill next summer dude because u still need to hit some bigger jumps and u dont wanna be doing it for the first time in front of a bunch of ppl then crash and die! maybe tell them its too much hassle to make a ramp and stuff and that ull try to have one for next time.otherwise try to contact ppl from ramp building companies and ask them about landing ramps, freestyleindustries, trick factory rapms, etchope this helps P.S. not trying to cut u dwon or anything buddy :)

hey man....its not early in the spring...its not till the end of june, and theres no way im delaying this.....
they already limited me to a 40-50 ft gap....so its not like im gunna kill myeslf.......i feel comfortable enough to jump ramp to ramp......plus i was never one to back down from something cuz i might get hurt!

We have shot a lot of MD Extreme events, and they have a few landing ramps. I'll tell ya, only a few select riders are able to hit the ramp because it is so dangerous. You really need to know what you are doing. You land really hard, the landign takes a heck of a beating, and if you eat it you are guaranteed a trip to the ER. Metz took a rough landing at a show in the Summer and turned his leg into hamburger meat across the asphalt. MD Extreme will only work with top riders ramp to ramp because it is so dangerous, and sometimes the ramps need to be reconditioned after every show. Tears up the wood in a jiffy.

Deegan is rumored to have paid 30 grand for his landing ramp from Freeride Technologies. I won't say it isn't worth it as they use it all the time and it has hydraulics.

If you are only allowed a 40 to 50 foot gap, make them give you dirt and do a dirt to dirt show.

yeah landing ramps are really dangerous ,in germany a rider jumped too far ,and flatlanded on the asphalt and nearly dies ,he lied about 3-4 weeks in coma and now sit in a wheelchair for some more months:(

thanks for the info......i know how bad wood is for landing on....but this show is important cuz the scene here desperatly needs it!
i had an idea to use a flat bed trailer and put a landing coming down the rear so i could put my ramp in front of it!

any ideas on this?

im not shure if there is even a site but wot about the warpt tour, mayb u could get sum info outta them some how ??? yeah this flat bed trayler idea is cool coz that would b a smallish down ramp but big enough for 40 - 50ft or woteva but defently dont use a low loader!!!!

i hate the idea of metal landings. they are way dangerous. they may be convenient but they are realy realy dangerous. i can just imagine what would happen to some one if they cam up way short. and ive flat landed on pavment before jumpen down hill and landing on the street and over shooting the down hill and landing on flat pavment. i thought my leg was snaped. my knee was all purple and swolen and i broke my nose cause my face hit the bars:(
also it ovaled my rims and broke some spokes:eek:

deegans land ramp has suspension? is that u ment by hydrolics? that would be so cool, has any one got pics of this suspension ramp

star_fish
December 19th, 2001, 07:32 AM
the only suspension that is on the ramp is on the tires of the trailer. ive seen pics of it in an article about the mulisha riding at lax at the end of the run way and they had a bunch of shots of it. the hydrolics are so the ramp folds and contracts with the push of a button instead of having to set it up with raw man power.

thanks everyone!

but i think i may have talked them into letting me have dirt landing.....i have to go and check out the land and see if i have enough room, i might actually be able to talk him into letting me have a 75 ft gap..wish me luck!

hay star_fish i think i might of read that in the newsagent coz it costed 2 much so i read it, has it got pic's of twitch doin a burn out or 2 ??? if so that is 1 mother of a down ramp. i was thinking about that yesterday and if u were hitting it 4 the first time u could put a 20 or 30 ft thing in between (so it turns it like a single tabletop) then if u come up short it woulddnt kill you, then take it away wen you are comfy jumping it then bring out the camra :D

im not shure if you undersatand that but oh well :p

my dad has a 38 foot flatbed trailer that tilts for loading. itdd be perfect for a landing ramp, except the deck is made of dimond plate steel.

I got the numbers done at a local sports store that does hockey jerseys.

They just do it with 2 layers first they put down the black then the white overtop of the black, leaving a black boarder.

Braaaaaap !!!!!!

hey,

thanks.. how much did it cost? how long does it take? and how long do the stickers last? Once they wear off, will the jersey look like .... ?

WaussInd
January 29th, 2002, 02:52 PM
Man.. you're way too worried about such minor things :) I bought some iron on letters when I raced my 80. It took me about a total of 10 minutes to do my jersey, it didnt wear off for a year.. and by that time, I had enough for a new jersey anyway.

RM_Rider_521
January 29th, 2002, 03:04 PM
haha,

I have iron on numbers and letters, but it doesnt look as good as if you have it done properly.. I want to look like a pro, not some cheap ### mofo who tried to stick 3$ numbers and letters on there jersey and ruined them/it..

:)

RedBull
January 29th, 2002, 05:05 PM
i have a feeling he just called you a cheap ### mofo so what if yu dont look like a pro?? do you need to?? noooo not really and if the iron ons fell off in about a year then think how long the others will! it probly costs like 30bucks and if your worried about how long and a year is to short then someone (who i will refrane from saying) is a cheap ### mofo but then hey thats just my speculation;) ;)

haha...

Very true, but what if you want it to look proper, and not half assed?

Oh, and redbull, a year is to short for cheap iron on's because once they start coming apart, they "can", but most likely will ruin your jersey.. Bits and pieces of the cheap iron on's will be stuck to your jersey, and it can fade the jersey.. It will look messed up..

Im expecting these letters to last a long time, and I dont see where you can come about calling me ( um.. I believe that is who it was directed to .. ) a "cheap ### mofo" if I want to do it the proper way, and not have to replace my jersey every year.. If you want to go buy me a brand new jersey every year, I will gladly put cheap numbers/letters on it..

im sure no one will notice except you, and its even ###er when ppl spend heaps of money on gear and bike parts but they cant ride. Do you think some one will come up to you at the race and go "Man there some nice numbers you have there on your back, where did u get em" nice looking numbers are somethnig that wont make you ride better but maybe something for the same price will, dont spend your money on things that dont even matter, but if your rich, hey.... go for it

I would rather have people look at my jersey and see that it is neat, instead of people smirkin to there friends " hey, look at that guy.. his jersey looks like ####.. its all messed up, etc... "

It shows pride in what you do..

well that right there is why lots of people get tagged as posers, tryin to be something their not. i would much rather have ####y gear and be able to whip the hell out of the punks that think their racers cause they got numbers, than to stoop to their level and have numbers and stuff on my bike thinkin that mabee just mabee they might not snicker behind my back because some i have isnt quite as nice or expensive as theirs. all that stuff doesnt matter, they can put 7 grand worth of mods in their bike and i could still kick thier ### without all that stuff and that doesnt make me less because my gear isnt quite as good.

RM_Rider_521
January 30th, 2002, 02:37 PM
I never said that..

And why does it matter if people can beat you or not? DOH!

Its not my fault that YOU dont have new gear.. If I want new gear, im going to buy new gear.. And if you dont want new gear, then dont buy new gear... I could care less.. Its people like you who could ruin motocross as family sport... When parents come to watch the races, and they see all these disrespectful kids, then why in the world would they want there little 6 yr old kid to get into it??
Not that it matters that much, but it can put a bad image on racing..

But then again, this is a freestyle forum where most of you could care less.. All you want to do is go out and ride ( the way it should be, but is not always..).. Im sure if thats all I was doing, then I would care less.. I used to ride in jeans, running shoes, t-shirt, baseball gloves, and a cheap ### helmet.. But that all changes when you start racing ( well.. not all the time , but you get the point) and you want to look good..

ont.freerider
January 30th, 2002, 02:46 PM

actualy all my gear is brand new. and im not giving racing a bad name and disrespecting people. ive actualy hung out with 6-8 year olds for hours at the track just talkin about riding and things they could do to improve. and i didnt mean dont buy new gear all the time or you will look stupid, i ment dont buy new gear all the time for reasons such as the other riders think you should or they got new gear, do it cause you want to. and back to the hole disrespect thing, i have had parents come up to me and thank me for helping out their kids and if not helping just hangin with them telling them what i know so they dont have to learn to ride the way i did, the hard way. and i used to race when i was little and stuff but when i wasnt on the track and even some times when i was on the track i didnt have the money to buy new gear so i always just wore my good ol' pair of vans and a tshirt and jeans and a 40$ helmet.

and im sorry if my post earlyer this morning came off offnensive to you i was just trying to proove a point and it wasnt a personal blow to you by any means:p

If that's all you're thinking about when you're at the track, then you've got some other problems to deal with first. Riding isn't about caring what other people think, riding is about having fun. If you have some cheaper numbers, it's not like anybody is really gonna care. I rode my first race on my 250 with jeans and a t-shirt and boots, and I beat more than half the feild. All the rich kids in the back with their brand new bikes and gear... getting back of the pack finishes, and wondering why their brand new stuff didn't make them win.

RM_Rider_521
January 30th, 2002, 11:01 PM
True anni..

But I never once thought in all of my life that my "rich" numbers or gear would make me win positions :D

I work hard for what I get, and im proud to show that.. Its just the way I work, you see..?

Anyways, I would rather ride on a hot, sunny day, rather then a cold muddy one.. Muddy stuff is too complicated.. I would rather be able to sit back, and relax in the summer with my t-shirt and shorts on, instead of 6 layers of clothes and and jackets!! :) But thats also my opinion
