I always ride with one. I started to use one when I got hit in the tooth with a rock at the track. I got used to it and now I feel weird without it. I've heard it also helps with concussions.

lost these puppies this summer after getting popped in the chin with the bars, now i ride w/ one. I got mine at walmart and it is vented in the center so there is not much of a breathing restriction. Get one now! Teeth suck and are not worth messing with.

I use a shock doctor Gel max. I have several so I always have a fresh one.

Would a normal football mouth guard work the same as the ones you guys have links to?

it should cause i have my football one and ive thought of using it...... it would probably put a little restriction on breathing tho

thanks guys for all the help.

overall sounds like this is the way to go.
The differences seem to be from cheap to pricey are how they breath and maybe how comfortable they are.

I'm going to pick up the brain pad one this week and give it a try.

thanks again all.

I like the idea of those vented ones as well...I have been wanting to get one asap. I knocked out 3 teeth in a crash at a skatepark a few years ago...not fun. I'd rather break any bone in my body other than breaking teeth out

Yes but Shock Doctors are designed more for concussions then most of them. I used a shock doctor for football.

not so much, i work at a hockey shop and we sell every model shock doctor makes. if you look closely, most shock doctors mouthgaurds have a so called $7500 dental garuntee if worn right.

for the best fit and comfort go to your dentist and get them to make a "custom" mouth guard, the fit is amazing compared to those crappy store bought ones... you'll be thankful if you do, feels like your not even wearing one... just my 0.02

do the custom ones have a vent in the middle to breath? Sounds like custom one would be the way to go.

I have allways ridden with a mouth piece i have never ridden with out it just as important as my helment. it helps with not getting concussions when wipeing out on a landing and what not. if you dont know what type to get ask your dentist or some that has a good deal of knowledge of the brain and impact with your teeth. I asked my sports trainer about the right one. i hope that helps

i'm guessing with one to make it easy to strap to the helmet in some way.

i have the one that is connteced to my helment. you can get one that can be tied into it also. another thing renner has been seen wearing also. but trust me you have a less chance of a concussion with them even if with a fall. concussions and brain damage come from the jaw jamming shut hard that impact is follwed up your brain feeling it that is why you will see those white spots if you land hard. its a great investment. but i would say a strap one that is the one i have ahd for years. but yes if you do have a mouth guard and it faulty read the back of them and it will say they have a garuntted to work just like nofear509.

Well i picked up the lo pro + today by brain pad. Was only 11 bucks at the sports store. Got it fitted and molded for my mouth. I'm taking it for a ride on friday. I can tell from testing it at home so far it's for sure going to take some getting use to but it's for the best.

thanks for all the feedback.

I use one with a strap, easy to keep up with and it doesnt get dropped in the dirt. I attached it to the buckle on the chin strap.

Shock doctor Gel max, unless you go custom from your dentist. I used it for am mma fighting and loved it. The everlast with the breathing hole in the middle was just too hard.

i picked one up the other day from big 5. im going on something like 5 concussions so i figured anything that will help keep that number down is probably not a bad idea

everytime i put it in my mouth tho i feel like im gonna throw up.. maybe im just weird haha
