Just wanted to let anyone know who was looking to have chrome plastics or helmets done just get in touch with me I was wanting to get some for myself like Cinq's but was turned off by the fact that it was a $500 process and was so fragile so we got some equipment to produce the same results but a durable finish and can do it for far less than $500 so if anyone is interested just contact us. Hope this helps everybody out that was looking for it.

actually my cost to do my own stuff is around 5.00 for a helmet for the materials all the rest is labor which if its a new surface i.e. (no scratches) a whole bike can be done for 200.00 and way more durable then vacuum metalizing just in case you were interested. To just chroming your lid (helmet) not garbage can lid lol.....would be around 100.00 if its used 75 if its new, thats just chrome and clear though, usually we put color and graphics after the chrome that cost extra " More the money - More the better " colors over chrome makes it look like christmas ornaments.....pretty cool effect

have you ever priced a paint job???
how expensive do you think paint is well i can tell you first hand the customizing business is all labor you pay for my time not for a jug of paint. Just because i can sell you a qrt. of paint for 60-70$ doesn't mean i should charge you 100 not 1,000 to spend a week to paint your bike or car my weeks worth of work is what you pay for but obviously when im makin something for myself i dont pay myself labor so that makes my expenses only materials.
but I appreciate your advice.
my system is working pretty well though as i think you may see around oct. or so.....I'll keep you posted....

thanks, just hit us up I don't have any shots on the page of dirt bike plastic but i will soon so check back but we can shoot up the yz for like i said earlier 200.00 in any color chromes or gold. and this stuff is alot more durable than the process used to be and obviously alot cheaper the guys used to have to pay like 400.00 or better and wait 6-8 weeks to even get theirs

August 10th, 2002, 07:06 PM
we put an auto acrylic clear coat over it 3-5 mils thick then wet sand and buff it out to a mirror shine same as a car or truck

Hey 84 guy the set-up equipment costs your shop about 18,000 so feel free, its one hell of an investment though just because -dv- and i were laughing about chrome spray paint please dont think im clearing over chrome spray paint its still a process of depositing metal on plastic first and it does require some machinery as well as a facility separate from your spray booth for painting as it makes a hell of a mess and there is run of waste chemicals that are extremely unstable so you need a "three step" down straining device before you can drain or dispose of the run-off so there is a little bit of set -up and cost to incure not real efficient to just do yours and your buddies i think i have about 23,000 or so tied up in just the chroming asspect of the shop

DV if you paid 1.99 for that paint job you got ripped off. Ive seen kids with crayons do better jobs. B.B.T boys let me know how much it would cost to buy a set of those f.150 flame covers. I live in Canada so it would probably be cheaper just to get you to send me covers allready painted instead of sending you mine.

August 12th, 2002, 10:03 AM
I guess let me know what year the 150 is I'll have to get a set for you + say 40.00 for the flames
by the way are we going chrome or gold or colored chrome flames what color is the truck?
ShiftKID99
August 12th, 2002, 10:11 AM
Ill have to know a total but the truck is a black 00 f-150.

How much does it weight? Seems like it's be pretty heavy for things like a helmet which u want light as you can.
DOES IT RUB OFF?! I can't help but think that u are intentionally ignoring this question???

the paint job on dv's helmet is worth more than the helmet itself.

ok no offense or anything.... but r6 plastic and helmets and car fenders arent the same material as a dirtbike plastic, how are you gonna buff flexible dirtbike plastic? i dont get it?
B.B.T. Boyz
August 15th, 2002, 03:05 PM
It can be done to any surface.....hell I've even sprayed a light mist for people on show car windows to give it a mirror tint just like looking through a security window I'll post more pics sometime and I would hope you understand that "buff" is a generic term to refer to rubbing out with compound which is what gives you the uniform gloss anyway you dont use a high speed buffer on smaller pieces obviously these are rubbed out by hand after they are wetsanded
How do you think painters got the job done before they had a machine anyway.....and there are still alot of people that do it the old fasioned way no matter what and receive great results. Just trying to give you something to think about
So rather than try to call me out..... I guess you should think a little longer before you reply in such a hasty fashion .....
How did you say it .....Oh yea, no offence

ok i have a couple ?? if i was to have a set of plastics done would i have to have the same colored plactics as the chrome color like if i had it done in red would i have to buy red plastics or does it not matter?and does gas like distort it or harm it in any way cause i dont wanna pay 200$ + for a gas tank when i could get a whole set done for that !and if/when it scratchs will the color underneath show if so is there any kind of simple repair kit u could send back with the plastics to fix it so i wouldnt have to send em back every time it got scratchs on it!and also what kind of gurantee do u have on em ? i know its alot but id aprecciate it alot if u answered some of them when u get the chance cause i want my plastics done when i get my 250f and i like to know about something before hand .............so thanks alot
later:D :D

First let me start off by saying your not the briggest peanut in the turd, i was simply asking how it is done, with no attitude and you had to go off being a smart guy, thinking that everyone is out to "get you" you must be able to read peoples minds, my post wasnt nasty or anything, this one may be. but i still dont understand how you buff flexible plastic?? R6 plastic is differnt... on your site it showed everything except "DIRTBIKE PLASTIC" which is a much differnt material than metal and fiberglass... so before you go shooting your mouth off , think first
oh ya No Offense

ya i wanna know how you gusy do it without chipping and flex cracks.
do you sand the material first?
AC/DCroolz
August 15th, 2002, 09:17 PM
thats ALL we wanna know!!!!:p how does it hold up on dirtbike plastics? when it flexes, would it crack or break? thats what everyons askin, werre not callin you out or anythng, cuz you have a more durable, cheaper way of chromin plastic. we just want to know if it will be strong on dirtbike plastic.
oh yeah, can you do the tank, too? thatd be sick:D

August 15th, 2002, 09:23 PM
ya dude the tank would be sick.
does the chrome go on better on plastic or metal? can you do it on wood?
AC/DC:you ever go to victorville motocross? i was on my up/back to/from vegas an saw it in victorville. looked aight.

SCAR-- dont really know what you meant about the tank in one of the earlier post I recommended against doing the tank unless its just for show you cannot store any gas in the tank for any length of time any time you seal a gas tank i.e.(clear it in) your going to have a ventilation problem with the fumes that usually pass through the porus plastic of the tank (causes bubbles just like decals) there is ways around it but it takes more time and money than its really worth strictly for show......also no it doesn't matter what color the plastics are but if you do red on yellow for example the yellow under the fender would sure stand out as we dont usually do underneath unless its just for show not to practicle... as far as durability i can only compare it with vacuum metalizing as the only way Mike's was done previosly so if you've never seen how it breaks up it's hard to explain but this survives alot better ......This is not meant to be for your everyday ride its usually for a spare set of plastic for show or comp.
HUCKIN-- Actually man you dont need to sand it first unless its used plastic then you have to sand it and buff it back to a smooth surface ----IM SURE HONDA_5 doesn't want to hear that-- but once its back to a perfect surface you chrome it then clear it with a clear that actually bonds through the chrome coat...maybe the biggest area of confussion is that this isn't chrome like the metal its actually a mixture of chemicals which burns itself into the surface of the object when these chemicals react with each other the produce the chrome effect....Im in no way saying its bulletproof if you wad it up the plastic takes a hit just like regular plastic the fenders and all can still flex because we add flex-stabilizer to all the clears that keeps the acrilic from ever turning brittle thus letting it give alot more than the old way.....yes i can shoot wood grain to i just have to put a base coating to seal in the wood then chrome and you can still see the grain lines pretty cool looking when your done
HONDA_508--last but certainly not least I'll address you--I was so glad you earlier pointed out to me that r-6 plastic might actually be different than dirt bike plastic just incase there was a chance i was that ignorant that I didnt know that or to imply that we can do it even if we couldn't the reason there is none on the page is mearly because i dont have another new set of plastic to shoot for our personal bikes yet but you will soon be able to see it on the page all i can ask is bear with me
You all should soon be able to check it out on the upcoming Tony hawk BBHJ tour where you can see it in action ......(if I told you anymore about that I'd have to kill you)......lol
well for everyone that bothered reading this even though your name wasn't mentioned sorry for being so long winded let me know if i missed anything
