well, i know what you are talking about but i have never had it happen to me because of my bike. i have spent way too much time in hoskittles because of concussions. the last time i went i couldn't move the whole left side of my body. it wasn't until after that my mom told me that if i got any more i wouldn't be riding if i lived under her roof.
i didn't cry but i was kinda pissed off... just thought i would add that.

Uhhhh... damn. Hate to be the jerk here, but no. And not just no... but hell no. I'm not a poontang. There are more important things in life to worry about. I've been bummed out when my pile of crap was broken... especially after I just dumped a bunch of money into it. But cried? Hell no. I figure I'll save that for when my parents die or something.
Instead of crying about it, get a second job and fix it.
ETA: If I cried in my girlfriends arms over a dirtbike, she'd probably slap me and we wouldn't be dating anymore.

Are you implying that crying over a friggin' dirtbike is normal for a 19 year old?

Yeah actually I am, how about you swallow your pride and give the kid a break. If riding is what you really love and what makes you happy in life, then it's okay to cry about it, especially if your caught up in a bad financial situation. It just shows how much he appreciates being able to ride. Not everyone has a sponsor or mommy and daddy to pay for their bike getting repaired and whatnot.
Theres no set of rules that says what people can and can't cry about.

If the kid was injured in such a way that he was never able to ride a dirtbike again, I would agree with you. However, shedding tears over a replaceable material possession shows signs of extreme immaturity. People have sacrificed much more that a friggin' dirtbike and not let it 'ruin' their lives.
My truck is my pride and joy at the moment. I love the thing damn near more than life itself, and I just made a stupid mistake a few days ago and drove the thing into a steel pole. There is $1000+/- worth of damage. I'm not happy about it. My door rubs my fender and scrapes paint every time I open it. But guess what? It happened, and there's nothing I can do about it. Why waste my time and tears crying over it when it can be fixed/replaced? You know what I did? I said "damn, that effin' sucks" and let it bum me out for a day. Then I picked up more hours at work to help pay for it.
Replaceable material possessions should not be enough to drive a man of 19 to tears. I can't think of a single material thing that I own that I couldn't stand to lose, barring maybe a house or place to sleep. This kids life is pretty fantastic if his biggest problem is fixing his effing dirtbike. What's to cry about?

haha! Woah! For once I have to agree with Wauss. Dude, no offence or anything, but maybe you should seek professional help. It's not normal.
I did a show last march where I completly destroied my wrist. So bad that it only moves about half of what it used to. Chances are I can never ride ramps again. Did I cry? Hell no. I adapted, and now here I am. A 4.0 honors student. Grow up man, life isnt that bad. Then again, you could always go listen to Dashboard...

You obviously completely missed my point. It's not the broken dirtbike, that can be replaced. It's the fact that he cant ride for a long time. Ive seen grown men cry because they couldnt ride for a certain amount of time due to injuries. Maybe you just dont put your heart into riding so you wouldnt even undeerstand anyways.

No, I don't put my heart into riding. Anymore. Dude I've been there, give me a break. I also put my heart into other things these days. If something holds me back from doing something I love, I don't cry about it like a vagina. I do whatever I can to get back to doing it as soon as I can. I have more important things to do. There is something wrong with you if you cry because you can't effing ride FOR A LITTLE WHILE.
Whatever. You're about as fun to argue with as a rock. Later.

Do not cry about it, that will produce nothing. Here is something that will. Make therapy and rehabilitation a full time career. As for your bike, that should be the least of your worries.

Okay.........I should probably ask you how much riding a dirt bike is important for you.......I just cant imagine myself whitout bike.......I saw a quote in racerx and found that so true.....Motocross is like being adicted to crake..... The more you take the more money its cost, the more its tough on your body but you are always more and more adicted............Motrocross took so a huge part of my life that I just cant imagine myself whitout bike........What will I do the weekend or after work ?
And when I cry in face of my girlfriend she understand me because her passion is her horses........She did the same thing when one her horse was sick............
If motocross is your REAL passion you should understand

Buy a 2-stroke instead of a boat anchor next time they don't blow up.
There's not much you can do about it now so take it like a man and go on with your life. If you feel the way you do you will find a way to get another bike as soon as you can.

You know, I think grammar should be at the top of the list of things you should fix. Not your dirt bike.
Ok, so try to understand this. From the time I got my first bike when I turned 10, up until last march when I got hurt (10 years), I did nothing but concern myself with bikes. When I was 14, I rode my first freestyle show. For half of my life, I did nothing but ride. Then, all the sudden, it all comes to an end. Think, 10 long years of hard work down the drain. Now don't tell me that riding wasn't my life, and I don't understand what its like to lose what it is that's so dear to me. So here's the two differences between us. One, I didn't lose my bike, I lost my career. And two... I didn't cry about it. Grow the hell up. Last time I checked, only children cry over broken toys.

first of all, youre comparing your girlfriends sick horse, which is a living being, with a conciousness... to your dirtbike, a machine with easily replaceable parts.... second of all, you ask what you should do with your free time after work and on the weekends, well if i were in your position, i would stop my ### from crying and get more shifts, or a second job.... if you are really so heartbroken about your 'passion' stop crying to strangers on the internet looking for sympathy, and work as much as you can to fix the bike... jesus man, if this is the worst thing in your life right now that causes you a bit of stress, concider yourself lucky... its a bike, it can be fixed, grow up!

Just kidding man, but yeah, like these guys are saying, there is a LOT of #### in life that makes a piss wound dirt bike seem like a relief. No ones saying it isn't crappy, they're saying to be a man about it and kick a cat or something. Remember the big four; Birth, Death, Sports moment/milestone/retirement, and Females...everything else should be manageable.

Bikes have and are pretty much my whole life, so i know what you're feeling, but sometimes ##### happens, and when I think of all the things that could happen to keep me off the bike for a few months.... the bike breaking is one of the better ones.
So basically it's just a bike, save the money and fix the thing then go riding again. Pretty simple really.

I already had a job and sorry if my english wasnt perfect but what about your french my canadian brother....After all Canada is a bilingual country ;) ....This thread didnt go in the way I thought, I t seam like everybody are against me but I did nothing to be hated and I love this forum......Ok let forget all that #### and just go ride .

You're not hated at all...and I was wondering if English was your 2nd language. I'm sure now that people know it's not everybody will cut you a lot of slack.
But you have to admit two things:
1. You're kinda bringing this on your self by posting this on a dirtbike forum rather than Dashboard Confesionals board...
and
2. Your girlfriend is probably fahking a guy behind your back that doesn't cry over a dirtbike.
j/k But seriously, treating women with respect and showing some emotion is alot different than being a complete #####. Women are women and men are men. Women like men. For as much as they say they like sensitivity in men, they also like to feel like then have a man. Men are mostly hairy, sometimes rude, and most of the time not going to cry...and when they do it can't be over a broken motorcycle.

Oh and by the way freestylus, if you need some comradery on your battle here is something for you. Chad Reed and a few other top pro supercrossers cry like little women at a few of the races from time to time. Now I dont know if this is to be admired, frankly if your 25 and crying because your a professional sx rider making millions a year and your bike broke at a race, well I dont know. I am bored enough to see if the people on this forum will now embrace crying because chad reed does it or be their own human and stick with their original thoughts.
