u can use mesh, or plywood.

I used plywood. its more expensive, harder to put on, needs to be sand-painted regularly, can get slippery, and eventually needs replacing.

So in other words, go for mesh :D

plywood is alot cheaper, i used 3 layers of 1/4 inch thick wood and for 8 sheets of wood it was like 90 dollars. expanded mesh is about 1.70 a square foot plus cutting charge. but i was thinking that after i have mroe money to use really big expanded mesh and putting it on top of the plywood?

you make it your self, just mix sand with some crappy out door paint, but you have to re do it every know and again

or watever you call it
it may cost quite a bit but all together would be the best because you dont have to repaint it or any maintanence

Where the hell did you get that metal costs more than ply, our expanded mesg we put on our ramps costs way less than ply wood, just go to a bulk dealer and by it i made mt ramp so it would fit on perfectly and it only cost 200 for the whole surface.

I mate built a ramp and he put marine carpet on the suface. So far it seems to work really good, you get heaps of traction, it hasn't worn at all and it is waterproof.

It cost him around $70 (australian) to cover the whole surface, and he an apolsterer to stick it on for him.

i think if ur gonna go out and build a ramp u misewell go full out on it and make it as good as possible, and as durable as possible. so i would say go with the metal.

nex, plywood is less than mesh, we built a ramp pretty much like yours, and for 3 layers of 1/4 inch plywood (4 feet wide) it was like 120 bucks.

Yeah I was a little worried about that at first, but I have hit it in the wet and it was fine. It makes sense if you think about it, they wouldn't use it in boats if it got slippery when it was wet.

yeah i thought about that but i think the carpet in our boats is a little slipperier when its wet
