Im guessing my problem may be worn clutch plates, but im just making sure ;)

when my bike is cold, and i go to accelerate, after about 1/4 throttle, the bike will rev out but not move very far at all.

after its warmed up for about 10 mins riding, it will get a bit better, but still revs way high, but hardly goes anywhere fast at about 3/4 throttle and above.

No adjustments in the cable do anything at all....

The problem got worse after the motor was pulled apart & re-assembled too (when that bearing went boom)

so is this likely to be the result of worn plates, or maybe springs? Or should i burn the whole bike like ive been tempted to do for the last 6 months (j/k :D :D)

yeah crust it could be your plates and your springs, i had the same problem on my Rm but it was that my cable was adjusted to tight. but by any chance, does that bike have an external actuating lever for the clutch, like can you see a lever moving when you pull in the clutch, or does the cable just go right into your engine. i know the newer CR's have the cable that goes into the case, i hope i explained that clear enough, anywho.. if it is internal, nevermind this, but if it is external then maybe you positioned it too far back. chances are if ya did, the damage has been done. you are gonna need to get new springs if you get new plates anyway, but maybe try the springs first, then if that doesnt work just get the plates too. sounds like those puppies are worn right down and arent grabbing anymore. its an older bike so chances it is worn out if you have never replaced any clutch components before. good luck bro sorry for this being so long.

its internal, the actuating lever is under the flywheel cover.

but thanks...i think ill jsut go for the plates & springs then.

anyone know roughly how much its gonna set me back?

couldn't tell you in aus $, but it's not very cheap, pull your clutch plates out and look at em, if they are all black and burned up lookin then that was definitely your problem

if you are gonna go through that trouble, they can still look good even if they arent. its all about the friction material left on the plates. if you have a micrometer crusty.. check your manuals service limit for friction material left on the plates. but chances are the plates are gone anyways. as for price. i think i remember seein that a clutch kit (clutch and friction plates) was like $300 canadian. i could be wrong.

here actually dude, do this if you want to know, go to www.servicehonda.com you can look at the microphiches (spelt wrong) the blown up pictures of your engine and whatever else you need, now the bikes are like 98-01 i think, but the prices dont change too much, it will give ya an idea of the price, the prices there are american dollars. hope this helps.
