Firstly dont even think about painting your rims it doesnt last. Aluminium is like plastic if u were to paint them you could use something called a self etching primer, you can get this from most panelbeaters, then all you have to do is paint them the colour you want. If you want the colour to last paint over them with clear lacker. Another way of colouring your rims(the better way) would be to take them to an engineering place that chromes steel or does galvanising. They usually have a few different colour chromes like red, blue, yellow(gold) and green. You have to strip the wheels down totally first though.

Dude can you read?? just kidding Im living in ireland at the moment any yes that is the way we spell colour. But anyway what i meant when i said strip the wheels is that you have to take them apart eg strip the spokes from the hubs and from the rims. Most places wont take them whole cause the dont wanna be responsible if the break them when stripping the wheels. :D
You cant get them dipped in black for sure but if you know a place that does powder coating they could do them in any colour for you

just tape up your nipples and a little bit of the spokes, make sure you block the tire from overspray and use some spray paint  i know a couple people that used flat black spraypaint and that's it, and it's held up pretty decently. looks good enough, too. just clean the rims, tape them up and spray it hard.
and you can get your rims anodized black but you have to strip them like slammed mind said, but i think it's more expensive for black, because black is the hardest to anodize or some crap.

why dont you just get them anodised, it doesnt cost that much,
and its worth it because then they look like excel rims

OK i had a question on this topic, i heard that you can only annodize a certian type of metal, now i know that my freinds 01 yz125 came with excel rims but i know for a fact my 97 cr 125 does not have them and i dunno if they are aluminum or what but i heard that you can only annodize like pure aluminum, so could somone tell me if i can get them done.. and if i could get them done in either a shiny red, or possibly gold color... this would save me from buying rims. thanks

the best/most durable route would be to get the rims powdercoated. It is way more durable than paint, and will look good when anodizing would start to fade from power washes and such. Powdercoating can be done in any color also...good luck
