keep quad riders off your jumps

well, if you make a lip too thin it gets blown out pretty quick and if its too wide quads go over it and ruin it so..i devised a simple tip, shape it like a diamond

It will never work! Quads are death to all wide faced jumps that will ever be built. End of story. I too have felt the pain of building a nice kicker only to have it destroyed by quad riders. It sucks. But they can't be stoped. I applaude your idea though. Just hit a narrow rutted jump and they will leave it alone.

ill try to get pics of the lip we're building for this distance jump we are digging out on this hill. if you shape it litransistion like a diamond most quad riders will be more reluctant to hit it due to the fact its tapered and it wont be a smooth

for some of the talent i have seen on these boards... you shouldnt have a problem cuz an idiot on a quad cant keep it at stedy throttle all the way through jumps... c'mon, i even get mad at some quads because they cant ride up takeoffs without revv'in their motors and spinning tires where it creates a dip, but thats no for all of them.. if you have ever seen a strictly quad track, chances are its nicely done and no dips.. because they dont let goon quads on it, so all it is are experienced riders with respect for the track and they know what to do.. so, whoever is screwin ur jumps up.. must not know how to ride

quads ruin jumps dude, no matter what. i feel bad for real quad riders, they get labeled as retards because 98% of them are dumb and ride around with no helmet and with a beer in their hand.

I can see your point.....trust me, id rather put a bullet in my head than sport a mulllet.

I think the whole 40 feet thing works for dirtbikes as well. If it takes some skill, people that would roll and hop the jump all day leave the lip alone. Man I get tired of fixing lips that little punks roll all day! But I guess they need to learn somewhere.

if you also noticed in my post i said the crappy quad riders that destroy lips. I dont mind it when guys can actually ride their quads and they are one the same track as me, i just hate the slow pokes that crush the faces on the lips. I also know that there are many guys out there that can jump quads insane distances and i think thats pretty cool.

Its not so much that all quad riders suck. It's just that most of them do. If you can jump 40+ or whatever whoever said back in this thread, great.. you're probably better than most others on quads. But it really sucks when you spend a bunch of time building a nice lip, hit it a few times, and when you come back to it, you notice that a crappy quad rider has come and rolled over your jump and effed it all up. Same goes for dirtbikers. The thing is, there are more dirtbikers that will jump 40+ feet than there are quad riders.

I just hate it when someone rolls over a lip and ruins it. I don't care who you are. But you gotta admit.. stereotypes don't come out of nowhere. Most quad riders really DON'T wear helmets and most have coolers of beer with them. hahah. At least most in Reno, do. The rest around here just do stupid little slides all day and call themselves pro. I have yet to see a talented quad rider in Reno. That's not to say they don't exist, though...

hahahaha yeah wauss your right about the beer coolers and stuff, out here in missouri they put huge mud paddle tires on their quads and they have snorkels on them and they only wear overalls with them and they drive through huge mud pits. my friend and I were at this freeriding spot an hour or so from my house and as we were unloading and gearing up in the parking lot we realized there were over 200 rednecks there on their quads. They all made fun of us calling us "racer Q**ers" because we had matching gear and bikes that were only a year old at the time. They were all drinking their milaukees best and old syle and throwing their cans in the woods and this lake and they were shooting their guns off an dstuff. I know not ALL quad riders are stupid like that but you are correct that stereotypes come from somewhere.

i hate it when quads come on the track and ruin the ruts. then when i try to get around them i have a hard time because 1. they are big 2. they ride all over the track acting like they want to run you over. the only good time i had with a quad on the track was a guy(actaully had a helmet and was a nice guy) that gave me a ride to the truck when i had a really bad crash. other than that they do nothing but piss me off. last weekend we had some decent ruts at the track until the quads came:m16:

im use to riding rough tracks because of the dirt in this area. only 1 track races full sized quads, uxbridge has quads but they only kill the inside lines on turns, and i dont race at that 1 track that races full sized quads:D

That place used to be sick like 8 years ago when it was built up.
The army core of engineers used to (and maybe still does) maintain it, and at one point they had a whole bunch of jumps build up out of nowhere, and it was awesome.
But now the quads tore down the good lips - they don't even enforce helmet rules down there.. so there are literally overweight mulleteers riding around with beer in hand tearing down the good jumps.... Boo!

i asked my friend where we went again and he said deep water, i dont know why i was thinking lake of the ozarks since that is truman lake....what ever i didnt drive i slept the whole way there and back. However there were some good hits but we had to search for them and i had to utilize my flat head shovel alot. I built a lip on this hill that was like 10 feet high and it was a step up that was probably like 65 feet and i hit it a few times then we went to the truck to eat lunch and i came back and quads were all over it having a good ole time, thats the reason i will never go back there, everything good we made got ruined by drunk red necks.

i think that there are quaders that wont hit #### they know they cant to do or reck and theres other ones that just go out there to piss off any one and every one. but its the same for every thing around. where i live there are some dumb a$s dirtbikers. they go on the bmx dirt jumps and rut them right out and rip up and down the road at 2 in the morning. well what im saying is you cant win at anything there are just some well lots of dumb people in the world.

ok... There is no reason to say quad riders runnen everything.. Like my friend Lance... He rides a 450 and he wont hit a motorcycle jump.. He will go make his own or one 4 wheel one that some body else has hit.. Some quad riders are dicks.. but not all. Most of them are pretty cool. I agree, however at the track I ride at it has a quad track but for some reason the quad rider want to come an destroy the MX track and it blows. They tear up all the corners untill there is no line and the corners are nothing but fine silt. the track does not water that often so when you have even 1 or 2 quads its a total dust pit so bad you cant hardly see anything. So for all the quad riders out there that ride tooele, stay the f$ck off the MX track and ride the "quad track". Thanks and have a good day.

Yeah no joke about Tooele. The corners are crap on that track because of quads. The good thing is that that track is way to tech for most quads to even try and get around on. God bless big doubles with small runs.

What works best for the bikes imo is to hit the middle of jump then have the quad lines right on each side of it.


Other then that we got stuff we hate bout dirt bikers and u guys got #### u hate bout us.


All in all I think both of get on each others nerves a lot but in the end we know each is a hell of a lot cooler then any other sport out there.

yeah we have the same problem in the week when we are at work those damn school kids on their qauds ride up our freestyle landing and down the other side.so now our whole saftey deck has been ridden away.but this weekend we are getting a TLB in to fix it up,so we came up with a idea,dig a trench about 3 foot wide and 5 foot deep,just in front of the face so when they come down its to late and it will only take one of them to ride into it.

We run quads against the bikes, at out our 6-acre track. Our bikes like using the quad lines for their own lines. Any track just needs heavy maintenence and heavy respect. It's a shame that anyone (bikes or quads) wreck the image of either sport. Sad if someone doesn't have enough respect to do it right, or don't do it at all.
