i get this real thin fuse wire stuff then wind it round and then twist the two ends together..because it is so thin, the joint shouldnt be sticking up much but just get a hummer and tap the join where u wound the 2 ends together so ur gloves wont catch on it :)

SO WHEN YOU USE WIRE YOU DONT NEED TO USE ANY GLUE?

Stainless wire works the best,

i dont use grip glue.. i use rubbing alcohal to put the grip on.. then use wire and gently clentch it on the grip and twist it on the back of the grip where your hand never goes.

Actually god^air...if you use soft compounds grips and like to race its a must to have grip glue or there is a great chance they may slip off! Then be even more safe and put the wire on like you guys told me!....Wow i feel special!;)

so you guys cutting each piece of wire or just wrapping a long piece? I seen the wire on RC:s grips in a mag and i was wondering why they were doing that.

I think that gas works better than the glue cus its easy clean up and works just as good.

i've heard of people using wood laquer to glue their grips on, stuff that grip glue crap, if you can get it in the states look out for a glue called KS BOND this stuff will stick anything, they wire the grips to stop moistrue getting under the grips and looseing the glue, stainless wire is proberly the best cause it wont rust just cut off about 6-8 inches and wire your grip twice (one at each end)

i just wrap electrical tape around the bars then pour fuel over it then slide my grip on over that..the fuel melts the tape and the grip together and it doesnt slip...ya gotta leave it like 24 hours b4 ya ride tho

None of you have ever heard of safety wire pliers and safety wire? You wonder how they safety wire all that stuff on the works race bikes? They use the safety wire pliers and safety wire that is made specificaly for stuff like that. It makes it so much easier too.

were can i get that safety wire and pliers is this something i have to get from a dealer or will sears carry it and would you still use glue with it freerider67:

You CAN get it at Sears but it's like $80. If you get it through a dealer it is only like $25-$30 with 1 pound of safety wire. A pound will last a long time. Once you get them you'll be amazed at what else you can use them for.

I just basically use glue the get the grips on easier. I don't really use it to stop the grips from slipping because i haven't had a grip slip with just safety wire. But glue makes them so much easier to put on.

y spend that much on 'Safety Wire' and stuff when u can just get fuse wire which is real thin

It depends what your doin but you don't want really thin wire. I got .325" that i use. The pliers are great cause it coils the wire by itself. It's definitely worth the money.

ok call me crazy but a budy and i have been having trouble with our grips always moving .......... after using zip ties to wire ....... and we came up with this idea....
take your grip off .......... clean up the bar with paint thinner or somthing of the like ....... let it dry ......... now take the new grip and take some spray paint ...( i like black sence i have black bars)
spray a little in the grip and (after covering what you dont want painted on your bike) spray a little on your bar ..... then slide the puppy on and dont touch it for a day or so ........... then just for extra karma put a tie wire on it ........... then ride .
the paint when it drys is quite a tuff thing to break and sence it kind of fills the void space inbetween the grip and the bar its kind of nice

WHY USE SPRAY PAINT TOO MESSY JUST USE HAIR SPRAY WORKS JUST AS GOOD NOT AS MESSY

i use paint too; it seals off a dirt or stuff
hair spray, when it gets wet, it turns it into a sort of lubricant so that doesn't work too well

the retard i bought my RM off of had put gas on the throttle grip, and it melted the grip to the throttle tube. so how did i get it off you ask, the only way possible a big huge belt sander, and a dremel tool with a grinding stone, took me 2 hrs about. and in one spot i accidentally ground to far and went throught the throttle tube duct tape solved that problem, but now my grips are slippin like crazy and i dont know wat to use.

GLUE AND SAFETY WIRE IS THE BEST REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM

I just bought some new grips today and i asked him how much the grip glue was and he said i didn't need it and he said just use hairspray and it works just as good. just make sure you use good hairspray and none of that cheap stuff. i used my moms rave 4x and it worked really good. i washed it after that and it got wet and it didnt get slippery. but you can use just about anything that will stay sticky for a long time.

Grip glue cost appx. $6 Canadian, so why not use it?
