What is the best workout program for racing? Besides time on the bike I mean. How much time should I invest in strength training and cardio? I'm in fairly good shape now but no where near what I want or need to be. I'm 5'7, 150 lbs. Any advice or a website would be a lot of help. Here's a pic of me on my old RM.

Yeah, I don't wanna gain too much muscle weight. I used to weigh around 180 lbs which was good cause I was strong but any more muscle for my small body frame and I would lose too much mobility. I wouldn't mind gainin about 10 lbs of that back. My biggest problem seems to be the dreaded arm pump. It gets to the point where I can't feel my hands anymore.
Thanks for the link yz_man.

hey to get ride of arm pump take a big pole about a foot long but thick like and 1 1/2 inches in diameter and drill a hole through the middle. then take a sturdy rope that fits through it and make a knot to keep it in there. then take a 5 lbs weight or whatever weight is good for you and tie it on the other end. then take your pole and just role the wait up like just twist the weight up the pole byu turning the pole in your hand untill it reaches the pole then walk it back down then back up again. that for shure will get rid of arm pump for sure. it did for me. my wrist is really strong from that and never had arm pump since. it works trust me and only cost about 10 at most. well hope i helped.

put it this way, to much muscle reduces oxygen delivery to the muscle cells, therefore making you more tired quicker. Our lungs can only breathe so much and inhale so much. thats why you dont see built people run all to much. they become tired more quickly. plus having a lot of muscle isnt all to healthy either. damn you learn a lot through martial arts lol :p

racing is about endurance more than anything. muscle is nice and all. if your going to lift weights, keep at a weight that isn't too much, but too little..just do more reps in a set rather than more weight with less reps. eat right, and more meals in a day. i would recommend five meals, dinner being the biggest portion. so that way when you work out, your building endurance and muscle at the same time. work out, then eat.
