I have a 250F but I think I should get a 250 2-stroke for freestyle. I nose down a good bit on my 250F when doing tricks. Are there any pros that ride 4-strokes.

yeah, the engine braking on four strokes kinda sucks for fmx, I think a two stroke would definitely be better, Bartram used to run a 250f, Vines did too, might have been a 426, but both ditched the 4 strokes awhile back, I think Heidi Henry, might still be using a 250f, but I remember reading an interview where she said it kinda sucked for fmx and she wanted to get a 2 stroke

Rick Heddle rides a 426f and he seems to be able to do many tricks fine. I guess it just depends on how you like to ride.
here is an example of one of his jumps (bad image quality)

I never get nose down on my 250F. Actually, when I do tricks I normaly get nose high. Mabey cause im a small rider?
I rode my dads KX250 for a day last week. I cant seem to do anything with it. On my 250F I feel way more comfurtable, I think because the bike is predictable in the air. On my dads 250 I did a simple no foot can and the bike went all wack on me. Mabey im just not used to a 250.
I would ride somone elses 250 around to see how you like it. As for me, im never gonna go back to 2-strokes.

hehe calm down, in 2006 the EPA's new rules go into effect, only for the US, 2 strokes will likely be outlawed from all public riding lands, but will most likely still be permitted for closed course riding and riding on private land. However what this does mean is that much like 2 stroke 500's, the factories will slowly start backing off 2 stroke production and putting more and more development and production resources into 4 strokes. However, that will probably take a number of years. It's kinda of a bummer, but give em time, 4 strokes are only going to get better, and a bike that is better than the CRF450R is, will gonna be really sweet.

i ride a 2002 yz 250 and my buddys gota 250f
-the 2stroke feels a lot snappier and lighter when u hit a ramp
also sometimes a 4 will bog for seemingly no reason
and i personally wouldnt take the risk...

oi man try slowing your rebound on your rear shock that should help stop you nose diving just do it 1 or 2 clicks at a time untill it feels ok to jump. just a sugestion if that does not work you may want to look at changing your jumping style or geting a 2 stroke.

it's all in your style of riding, if you try to ride a 4-stroke like a 2-stroke, or course you'll have problems. i never rode a 250f, but the 426 has no engine braking and i can jump it better than my 250. the only way to get the front end to drop off a jump is to not give any throttle off the lip, so give it more gas.

make sure your idle is correct and if that dont help run it a lil high me and my mate do no problems but dont sit them idling in one spot for a long time

Keep it reved off the lip get it to where your going off nose high(be ready for back brake tap) then add tricks when it feels good.

if you're nose down all the time, it sounds like you can adjust something to fix that, maybe you haven't been riding your bike for very long?

Yeah I never had any troubles jumping mine.... as long as you have the gas on when you leave the ramp you should be able to jump without any problems.
