Is there a product out there for your bike that you wish existed? Maybe a more elaborate design on a foot peg that maybe had a built in shock, or a better bar pad design? What products do you guys wish existed?

pre-made freestyle modifications (not sure if they already have that or not). Like pre-cut side panels, fenders, and seats.

I can't really think of anything else right now, too late at night to think

I think it would be cool to have a button that you push and smoke shoots out the back of the bike. Like when you see jets flying through the air and you see a huge smoke trail across the whole sky. That would be pretty cool to use that if you are doing a whip, and trying to get the crowd on their feet.

super hard seat foam so when you cut it its not hella soft and the seat doesnt almost come through the foam, also super hard bar pads that you could shave down.

different spoke designs or something, like some fat chrome rims and stuff.

different plastic designs, so you could not only buy a different colour but a different style, i think they would do well because not many people i know like the new cr plastics ect.

more graphic designs which arent just one big company logo, more stuff like the flames that were in the old freestylemx.com store (i want one of those skull and cross bones)

better iron on fonts for jerseys and stuff

It's not for the bike, but I wish I had a stereo system in my helmate.

my friend thought of like duct taping or finding a good way to mount an mp3 player to the inside of your helmet... on the mouth guard of it so it doesn't bother you... then running some head phones under your helmet (the kind that go in your ears... like single pieces on the end of the wire). seems like it would work to me.

Im not sure but i think Cinq was running some sort of smoke button on his bars way back in vegas in '98 - i remember him throwing a huge whip and leaving this stream of red #### behind him...looked ace...PAB said something about it too - i had the comp on tape but lost it..maybe crusty could help me out.

I'll just jump to the hookers to wash your bike and make you a sandwich after you are done riding. C'mon guys, there has to be something out there besides pre-cut plastics. The way your ankles take a beating, and your knees I would think there might be some useful mods to be made there.

This is a retarted idea but putting a buckle system on your pegs. For jumping!:D I don't know how many times i have gotten by back legs kicked of and they break away easy but not to easy...So they will be able to keep your feet on but you need to bail...just pull harder???:p

Ummm...Like shaolin said unique plastics...maybe not the color but like the style your using...You guys know what i mean!

some way you can have a twin exhaust system like on a banshee but without the weight...WOW how about the power then!:) It would cost more but oh well!

Really cool rims like tye dye rims...That would be sweet! Or even tye dye plastics!

triangle stand that fits in your pocket and unfolds into a normal sized one but without the weight!

Oh that would be cool i have lots more but don't want to get to carried away!

split handlebars

when you bend your bars you only replace one side instead of the whole thing, they could be locked together quite well in the middle but then split when one side bends.

fuel injection

changbel compression domes

adjustable spark

air shocks

solid foam tires

i just shot those off the top of my head ina bout ten seconds,,,the rest of you could do the same surely

WaussInd
May 27th, 2002, 02:37 PM
I like the idea of fuel injection. For 2 strokes to be produced after 2006, they're going to have to meet the emission standards I think... so fuel injection is one of the things that may keep the 2 stroke thing 'alive.' Yeah.

What about a pipe that sits closer to the bike.. haha.. ya know, so you don't smash it so easily when you crash.

I really can't think of anything else I need. I love it how it is.

Could we?....Could we surely?....Wheelspin?;)

Yeah i totally forgot about fuel injuection!....Ummm....Yeah i like what 7 ind. said...they pretty much are the most perfect, beautiful, skinny, powerful, yet nimble machines ever made! Of course i added a little words to that!!!

May 27th, 2002, 03:38 PM
What about having small shock absorbers in the foot pegs? That way when you landed that would take away part of the hard landing away. Would that work on handlebars or any other part? Not sure if that would work or not. I can't think of anything else right now. :D

Faast Company has already come out with some bars (don't know if they are prototypes or in production just yet) that have bushings on them to soften the blow. I don't have a picture on hand though.

like 7 ind said, fasst co. has the bars with flex and you only replace the side of the bar that got bent

Jason1
May 27th, 2002, 05:42 PM
those are nice , im talking about a bar that is two pieces not three though

slider
May 28th, 2002, 12:26 PM
There needs to be a huge bar pad made out of a two part foam. The outter (top) side would be softer than the inner. The whole intent is to protect a rider when they come up short or flat bottom and save the face and neck from excessive blunt force trauma. One design for crossbars, the other for taper type bars. They would attach with zip ties and be removed by the second practice.

These would be manditory for any rider hitting a course the first time and provided by the promoters. If priced right, they could be used for any newbe to ramps, distance jumpers or play riders just wanting to hit something for the first time.

im sure you can make a chatter box play music if you put a radio next to another chatterbox or something.

tires that don't wear. i remember a hillclimber fabricated a metal tire, im not sure if it was aluminum(probaly not, too soft) or steel. It costed like 300 bucks to make but that would safe you some tubes and a couple of tires

-=DV=-
May 28th, 2002, 06:06 PM
u would get like no traction at all with a metal tyre man

MX_Racer
May 28th, 2002, 06:19 PM
Hmm..for new jumpers, or even people like seth, have a little electronic system (doesnt have to be on the bike) and you tell it the angle of the ramp, and the distance between it and the landing, and it will tell you about how fast to hit it..

SoCalCRrider868
May 28th, 2002, 06:48 PM
what about a button you could push in the air to stiffen your suspension, like if you were going to case something, or if you were going to over shoot, it would tighten the suspension when you pushed the button in the air.

That would save a lot of wrists and ankles and chins.

Jason1
May 28th, 2002, 07:18 PM
reasons why a metal tire would be bad

1. it would still wear

2 cause sparks on rocks

3 waaaaay too heavy

4. would dent

5. after the edges wore off it wouldnt get any traction at all

6.would be an extremely rough ride

wider platform style pegs to help spread the impact of a oj or case
stronger rims and spokes like bmx has racing rims and freestyle rims.
bike to come standard with optional freestyle mods like suspension mods and plasics and stronger frames ect.
also i have heard that ktm has been testing fuel injection for the last couple of years so we may se it in 04'

some company sells a kit to make a 426 or 250f to fuel injection. as for 2-strokes, i'm happy with just working with the carb. i have always been wondering why bikes come with plastic ignition covers stock? i had to replace mine after a month. what's the point?

couldnt do that,,,would seriously distort it from the extreme heat of rewelding it , plus it would be mess you would never get the knobs right

May 29th, 2002, 08:56 AM
ummm....some sort of thing on the back brake that if too much pressure is applied really fast that it will lock in place and wont engage the back brake (like seatbelts in cars..if u pull them out too fast they will lock)...so if u miss a peg and land heal clean on the back brake its not a real big issue

You guys come up with some good stuff. I'm already working on my FMX product, should have it ready for sale in a few months, I'm doing testing on it right now. Shouldn't take long:D

i really like the idea of being able to stiffin your suspension while in the air... haha. i dont know how feasable it is... but it seems like it MIGHT be possible. the suspension would be heavier and way more complex (air ride style) though. oh well... like he said.. it would save lots of body parts.

I just wish factories other than KTM would put some quality parts on their bikes, like decent bars and triple clamps, the stockers are complete junk. Maybe a hydraulic clutch like KTM too, that clutch makes riding so much easier, my screwed up left hand never gets stiff or tired. The factories put so much cash into engine, frame, and suspension design, and then they just toss some trash parts on the bikes and ship em, it's kind of disappointing for the money you shell out.

theres nothing wrong with ktm suspension...all u jap bike riders arent used to a bike with way hard suspension straight out of the box..it gives the bike a great feel, to me all jap bikes feel real doughy in the front end and seem to squat alot in the rear...WP produce some of the best suspension on the market, it just comes set up for pro grade riders out of the box...if your a slower rider...u need to soften it up some...as fars as handeling goes..the ktms are far more forgiving than any jap bike ive ridden...i dunno YZs seem to wanna highside ya alot for no reason and KXs tend to feel like the front ends always gonna let go...the ktms just dont seem to do anything like that at all...
i know this is very controvercial...but please if u want to comment...make sure u have ridden them for long periods of time and u actually know what ur saying...
BTW i was told that the WP forks on the ktm are worth $5000(aus) and the PDS shock is worth $3000 to buy from WP..i never looked into it so i dont know how accurate it is...but if its true...it makes the suspension alone on the ktms worth more than a jap bike...lol...i dont think its that much tho

and on the topic of the ktm hydrolic clutches...i dont like them...like yes the feel absolutely awesome..but ive had nothing but problems with my hydrolic systems...and i gotta bleed the clutch every few days....its happened to no1 else i know with ktms...but it has happened on all of mine....but the hydrolic clutch feels so awesome when its working that i dont think i could ever go back to a cable clutch

My Cannondale has fuel injection and it works great, the fuel injection makes it super responsive, way snappier than a 250 two stroke. Metal tires will never be made so who cares and what ever happened to white trash racings mag wheels???

i think small nitrous kits would be so much fun!! you know, for that extra bit for the holeshot or for commin out of a berm!! Even better, kits for 50's!!! they should also make engines that can handle it. Some may not like the idea but i think it would be a blast. no pun intended!

hey dv, ur totally right, every japper crapper bike i have ridden feels sluggy and soft, the kx's feel like a harly, the seat is supersoft and the bars are ####e, and as for cr's, dont even go there, super crap, i would so much rather ride my 01ktm 125 than a cr 250, my ktm was more responcive and way better handling, the ktm is so smooth and with parts such as taper bars, sic suspension, wikid rims, hydrolic clutch and nothing can describe how much effort ktm put into making their engine the best. i havent had any problems wif mine, just repairing couple of crashes is the only money i have put into it. and they easily look the best too.
