Worcester, MA IFMA

Ok .....so I was just looking on the pace web site seeing if they had posted who was riding and I noticed that there is another show that weekend. How does that work?? Seems like they have to split up the riders.

We have one coming up in Cincinati, OH that I think I might goto. It's Friday & Saturday February 11-12, 2005. Was wondering what riders really show up at what events. I looked at the rider list and saw Travis (and about everyone else) on there and I'm sure he's not going to be there. Never been to a Pace event before, but it's a lot closer than Gravity Games. Plus I think it's inside which will be real nice (no wind delays :D )

it's all what you make of it. the riding is usually good. the venue is small, but it's always been fun to watch.

get to CT early on friday, i dont trust cassie to relay these messages to you. i plan on taking a half day (out at 10:45am) so try to get a flight that comes in around 10 or 11am. thanks buddy. :)

As I remember all outa state"rs need two "valid" forms of I.D to even think about getting near any alcohol in that place ! well thats what they did to me, first at the venue its self, and then at two different bars one was "shabooms" (i think thats the name), any way it kinda was a good thing because I'm not one to handle me booze to well, and tend to yak J.D. all over historic buildings! But I can't wait to spread "me love" all over, this year

At the Centrum you have to be THIRTY (!!!) to get a drink with an out of state ID. i hate that stupid place. i always have to have some MASS. kid go buy me two beers at a time to minimize the trips. they also close the beer counters at 7pm, or something ridiculous like that. this year i'm going to try to avoid drinking at the show (to avoid the aggrivation), and i'm also not waiting around the autograph table for plans to be made. you can find me at Jillian's. done. outside of the Centrum, i've never had to show anything other than my CT driver's license to get alcohol.

as of right now, two months in advance, yeah both nights. this will be my 4th trip up to Worcester for the IFMA (one of them i went up to Boston after the show...so only 3 of them count) and Jillian's seems to be the best idea. i hear Shaboom's is fun, but i'm not exactly going to get dressed up in that weather. i'm going to be bundled up like it's my job and i want to go somewhere with no dress code. the drinks are fair and they have lots of pool tables. Jillian's it is...for me atleast.

i believe pit passes are included with saturday day's tickets. i think that's how they have done it in the past.

assuming the show ends at 10pm, like usual, everyone should just hit the exits and head for Jillian's right away. that would get us all there around 10:15pm-10:30pm and we'll still have 3.5 hours of drinking/pool/air hockey/classic video game/face time left before last call at 2am.

i was 18 last year p00g. so i was allowed in jillian's but maria i believe was all alone in the negative 18 group so a few of us took off to denny's so the children didnt get left out. so now that there are no children, we can raid jillians. im easy going. as long as i dont have to stand in the cold i really dont care. pool or a all american slam, hard choice i still must say.

alright kiddies...it's only two days away...and my OCD is telling me it's time to start planning stuff.

We (Slammer_74, Jester and myself) will be getting to Worcester around 3pm on friday. As usual, we'll check into the hotel, survey the suite and then, probably, try to find some food. Anyone that knows my cell phone number from past years is welcome to call me and join us at anytime. If there is any confusion, i'm talking about Roostdude and MXRacer35. I have no idea where we are sitting at the show, and one thing that has never worked in the past is meeting people before the show, so i think everyone would be fine if they just headed to Jillian's after the show. If you think you are worthy (which means you don't annoy me on a constant basis), PM me and i'll give you my number so it will be easier to find us once you get to the bar (not that i'm an easy person to miss).

Matt (markos250) went snowboarding last Sunday, hit a tree and broke his leg (tib/fib) this sunday. He got a metal rod put in his leg on monday. Left the hospital today. crazy mofo..hope he pulls through. "guda" got a big heart..after all that, dude still wants to go see the show.
Our plan is: Saturday night, throw his rented wheelchair in the back of my truck. Get some tickets for handicapped section. I bring a chair n' sit with the handicapped few. They're not that bad after all..
Look for me wheelin' around an emig look-a-like (fro) dude in a wheel chair. If we dont meet up at the show, we'll try jillians after.

They changed the format where instead of two runs before the final, they had stupid competitions. They paired people off, and made them do tricks like SSGs, 9 o'clock nacs and regular nac-nacs. It was just lame. The whip contest is always pretty good. But I miss the action that came with seeing guys do runs. One trick at a time has no action.

there was a huge lack of competition in the show. that was a bit disappointing. the announcer DID call him Byron, but corrected it the second time around. i think it was his first night, so maybe we (maria and i) were a bit harsh on him, maybe not. i wasn't drinking at the show, so i might have been a bit cranky.

as for the rest of the weekend? amazing. it was cool that maria and kate actually stayed the whole weekend, versus leaving and coming back like past years. It was really cool of Mark (Jester) to travel all the way from Edmonton just for the weekend to hang out. Mark is, easily, the coolest Canadian i have ever met. so nice, agreeable and laid back. i hope this isn't his last trip down here to hang out, he will always be welcome at my house, or to travel with us to any event in the future. obviously it was a huge disappointment that Cassie coudn't make the trip. i know it put a damper on my drinking, i was looking forward to getting wasted and making an ### of myself, just for her enjoyment. as always, traveling with my boy Alex (Slammer_74) was a blast. there aren't many people i enjoy traveling with more than him. we get along 100% of the time, and he never ever gets on my nerves. i can't say i never get on his, with my OCD and all, but he doesn't let on if i do. moving on...seeing Adam (MXracer35), Matt (Roostdude) and $eth (seth399) again was awesome. we make up quite the silly group of morons, and we terrorize bars and pool tables like none other. speaking of pool, Dustin Nowak and Maria are total punks. don't let them tell you that $eth and I weren't just having totally off nights when we played them. Slammer can tell you that i would have owned them on any other night, even having to carry $eth on my back. :) metal hoodies own all of you, ask $eth, he'll tell you. right, so, meeting and drinking with MM_Freak and his friend was a pleasure. hope you guys had fun friday night. sorry if we hogged the pool table. so who called me from the stands on friday night? i think it was motoXcowboy. if so, how come you guys didn't go to the bar after the show? did i forget anyone? i hope not.

what else is worth mentioning? how about the freakishly loud banging that commenced at 5am each morning that only seemed to wake up Maria and I? there was either a massive renovation going on JUST above the bedroom, or there was a crew of 600lb. people jumping around. either way, i got so little sleep thanks to a combination of factors, the noise from above was very very unappreciated. i should have complained to the front desk, but i was too tired to think about it at check out time.

i think that this was the first trip i've taken where my OCD didn't act up ONCE. thanks to everyone being down for everything, i don't think i got annoyed at anything/anyone. actually wait, i did get very annoyed with Worcester's "system" of road layout. who makes a 4 lane one way street and doesn't mark it? true, maybe i missed the signs, but no one else saw them, so i doubt it. thankfully there was no traffic when i happened to go out the wrong way on said one lane road and actually drove a distance before realizing the lack of a yellow center lane was a bit strange.

i think this might have been the first trip i've taken where i spent more on food than i did on alcohol. without doing the math, i THINK that is the case. i'm not counting the $30 bottle of Grey Goose i bought on saturday night. i didn't open it and i brought it home with me, so it's an unrelated investment in my eyes. i must be getting old, because i think a certain two people *cough*Mark and Maria*cough* out drank me on saturday night. i was using the same glass all night, so it's a bit hard to count drinks against the 20 or 22 empties those two lushes left on the end table.

wrap up? sure. Elbow Room food? awesome. Worcester streets? stupid. Boston? cold, but still my favorite city. Hotel? fine (if i ignore the lame pillows and the earthquakes that kept me awake). sleep? maybe 5 hours total. Money spent? $300+ Grey Goose and tonics consumed? haha...like i could count...maybe 20 or 25???

sorry...no cheesy "priceless" Master Card sappiness at the end of this one. go die.

And I have to say, this was an awesome weekend - Mark is a great guy, even if he is Canadian :D Great times were had by all. Jillian’s on Friday night was a BLAST!!! Everyone got along terrifically; it's always cool to meet people from these boards...

The only downside to the weekend was the format change in the show - I, for one, was none to impressed with the first half - it just wasn't packed with the action I'm used to seeing at the IFMA comps of the past.

But other than that, things were great. Jillians, Boston on Saturday (Newberry Comics rocks!), and just chillin' out with Jeff, Mark, Maria, and Maria’s friend Kate was wicked cool.

major problem is that fmx is not sellin in the northeast, i'd be surprized if they actually made money. looking at people's reacton while sittin in my wheelchair I was flabbergasted as many of them simply brought their kids. they had no reaction what so ever to the riders! ;come on people you were their, the place sounded like a church on monday morning after a sno -storm , they were more worried about their dunkin donut coffee lat'as running dry then milio bringing back his whip's, unfortunatly I didn't hear the announcer say you can get tickets for next year events like he has always said in the previous years. maybe their is another complex in CT that is larger and cheaper to rent, they also did have some bad planning because obviously their was the event in P.A and also their was a AX on that date in CT so many conflicting schedules. you can't please everyone but you can please yourself

there has always been two shows playing in two cities at the same time. Philly and Worcester have played on the same weekend for years now. As for CT, i'd absolutely love it if they came here, but that is just me being selfish because i wouldn't have to drive as far. I'd suggest the Hartford Civic Center, but i think it's bigger than the Centrum. i've also come to realize that nothing is cheaper in CT.

I jumped for a demo in the Hartford Civic Center and I don't see why they couldn't have an IFMA event there, it's big enough I'm sure, from what I remember anyhow.

it's definetly big enough. that is what i think might be the problem...it might be too big for FMX.

easy fix, make more than 2 jumps (i think the superkicker was hit twice altogether in worcester, so it doesnt even count)... make a course like the good ole days.. i remember the 1st FMX i went to in the centrum had like 3 ramps and 2 dirt hits.. made for a good show cause it wasnt the same ramp over and over and over and over and over and over and.. well. you get the point

I am with you on this one MXRacer... I wish they could have atleast 1 dirt hit every IFMA, but unfortunatly, they sometimes don't have enough dirt for the landings....
