Im not sure when some one will try it, i think all it takes is the right jump and they never really have 360 type jumps in comps, people have been doing 180s for heaps long now so its only a matter of time. if its any one i think it will be jonesy because he was talking about doing backwards landings and that kind of stuff:)

If you do a 360 you don't need to land backwards.

People talk big, but not much happens. Like all the ppl sayin they were gonna flip at Xgames...only hart had the nuts to try it..

Yeah and that 15 year old kid on the CR, and the other guy on the YZ. But that wasn't at the X-Games, i'm sure if carey had of landed it more people would have tried, or at least if he didnt get hurt so bad.

Yeah I reckon Jones is the man to do it. Didn't he break his neck trying to land a fakie a while ago ?

jones broke his neck when he rode a YZf400, it stalled in mid air, he landed on his head

OK.. a few things... first of all... it IS possible to land a 180... if your lucky.. and dont over rotate... you could land if you have the clutch pulled, then you will be able to roll backwards..... stopping might be a bit scetchy though... i dont see anyone doing a 180 any time soon... now a 360... i have also heard the rumors of tommy working on them..... i believe carey hart was saying something about it.... he has been workin on them.. but hasnt quite nailed it yet.... so i guess we can just wait!

shaolin

what sort of position do u have to be on the bike, what sorta speed, do u rev hard at the lip. I might give it a go on a tiny litte lip just fora thrill.

Canucklehead

Well.... i can do 360's on my bmx... but ive never tried them with a dirtbike... if i was going to attempt one... i would probably not rev on the takeoff.... but just use speed i already have... and at the lip, crank the bars either left or right.... (causing the back end to come up, and begin to swing around...) once in the air... would just use momentum and legs to throw the bike the rest of the way around.. and hope to god that i land.... for this you wouldnt be able to use a standart metal ramp... you would need a dirt ramp, so when you crank the bars, the wheel doesnt just slide off the top sideways... as well.. you would also require a large... very large landing, as you will probably not land in a straight line from where your takeoff points.... (again... this is all theoretical... but thats what i would do if i were to try one)

come on people.... respond to this... give your input...

I don't think its that easy son.

Canucklehead
October 31st, 2001, 04:23 PM
Oh no... i wasnt implying at all that it was easy! Its damn near impossible! but i was just answering a question as to how it would be done... and i gave my input.... thats all it is... a theory of how a 360 might be preformed..... im not planning on trying it any time soon.. and i dont think many others are... so dont get me wrong... if i made doing a 360 on a dirtbike sound easy? its not!

later!

if any one is going to land the 360 it will be Pastrana and his bike. did you see him spin that thign around at the gravity games. with out a doubt it will be him. clowers couldn't do it if his life depended on it, he doesnt have as much control over his bike as riders liek pastrana and hart do.

i beg to differ...I'm not a huge Clowers fan, but as far as bike control, that guy is at the top. Watch him during the Step Up...THAT my friend, is bike control....Pastrana can control his bike like no other as well, but you can't say that Clowers can't control his bike that well.

i agree, tommy has mad bike skills.

He would be less likely to do a 360 tho, cos hes so short, he couldnt really throw his wieght round like trav does

I agree with FT... you watch clowers in step-up and he throws his bike around as if its nothing.... although it is true that his height would cause a bit of a problem... i think its possible for him to pull a 360...

i dunno, i think it will take somebody to get the technique right, there is gonna be one way to do it. and different people are gonna try different ways. somebody is gonna get lucky and find the right technique. so who knows who will pull it

Well, careyhart88. Deegan did it before Pastrana.

Yes, he did.

No, It doesn't matter that he landed a bit sideways, he was still the first.

yea but roostar didnt say anything about the "first" person to do it. he just said if anyone will pastrana will. and he did ;)
