Hey guys, a while back everyone was talking about taking ramp plans to a metal fabricator to let them make it. How much do you think that would cost? cuz its either that or try to buy one from California and ship it over to Illinois. I want to see which way would be better? And, should i just go with the evolution ramps because they know how to make them? Or would the fabricator be the way to go??? Thanks

im gonna prop the biz here but rick distler by far makes the bests ramps, hes got an awesome design and the construction is indesctructable. I am working on being his east coast builder ( im from PA ) so its possible i could make one for you but u might be better off to buy a diagram from him or get the free one off his sight at http://www.fmxramps.com and get the plans off there, it costs around $800 for materials so whatever a fabricator would charge on top of that for labor and to buy one ur looking at around $2500

I dont see how it can cost 800$ for materials. I figured it out here and it will only 150$(canadian) at the most.

Thanks guys, but if i was gonna buy a ramp, i would probably buy the evolution ramp because of the cheap price and nice ramp! I have already talked with him and he sounds pretty cool, but i was just seein what other people thought about metal fabri... I am still looking for dirt for my landin ramp, but after i get that, i think i will probably be goin for the evolution. I have contacted 2 transportation companies, but they havent answered me back yet with an estimate on prices. Anyways, see ya

I won't say that I make the best ramps and I know they are not industructable as a Rev.2 got hit by a Munster Truck 2 years ago and did a lot of ###age to the lower section. My ramps are built light and this comes at a price in strength but makes it much lighter than the others.

Also, Evolution makes good ramps and probably your best choice at this time.

Reddy4Impact, get healed up so you can start ridin again.

Slider, I know you make good ramps. If I had the money I would love to buy one from you, but I can only buy one ramp, and so I have to go with the cheapest. Im actually surprised my dad is even considering letting me buy a ramp, so I really am pressed with getting the cheapest, yet still quality ramp that will be able to last me for a while. Im curious, I think the evolution is like 750lbs, what does yours weigh? Anyways, i gotta go, see ya

If your materials only cost $150 canadian.. then you're gonna get killed on your ramp, dude.

We got all of our steel at a mad discount, and it still cost us $350 american.

My Rev.2 and Rev.3 is over 900# and build with a full covering of 1/16" thick metal, 14 gauge sheet metal with 3/4" - #9 - Raised - Expanded Metal over it.
I would suspect Evolution ramps will weigh close to 1,500#. Just a guess but it sounds like their ramps are build with the same metal as my Rev.1.

Thicker is better but I started to build mine lighter for rentals where I require the promoter to remove the ramp between FMX and Munster truck shows. Being I usually have to load these myself, I have adopted the light design as my default.

Well, I wouldnt really have any clue, but this is what arron told me about his evolution ramp...

"The average weight is about 750 Lbs..
Tail piece weighs
around 250lbs, middle 200 lbs., top 300lbs. these are all estimates im not
exactly sure but these should be pretty close."

So, I guess I gotta trust his numbers cuz they are his ramps, what do you think?
