where do u ride tho, i would use metal coz the wood will eventually rot (how do ya spel that?) away. But it might last i lil longer if u were going to cover it all the time, but it ya can go for metal.

It is possible to build a good freestyle ramp out of wood. I have build several for under $200 and they have an angle similar to that of the rev 1. The ramp has withstood rain, snow, hail, and below zero temperatures here in Kansas City, Missouri. The ramp is very stiff and does not flex. The surface is 3/4" plywood and coated with non-slip grit paint.
If you don't have faith in wooden ramps, thats fine with me. But if you would rather spend $1500 on a metal ramp, go for it. The wooden ramp plans can be found at motoxschool.com

We paid $350 for our metal ramp. $1500 to build it is crazy talk, and I'm sure you mean $1500 to purchase one that has been already built, but even if you don't have welding experience, you can have a metal fabricator hook you up with a complete ramp for like $800-900 around here.

i currently have, well sold it today..a wooden ramp, she is 7'x14'long.I have hit it for the past year me and 3 buddies.Ive hit it personally over id say 400-500 times,i live in Boston and i left the ramp outside all winter long i checked it over yesterday and it is still solid. It is very easy to build if you know how to frame.i had no plans just sketched out something on a piece of paper and went to it....this was even before i found this website.just saw them in magazines. As for the surface on the plywood Use WATER AND ICE SHIELD. it is wat ya use on a roof.Granular rubber sticks like a mofo!

we did the same as deegs, me and my buddy just had a small undetailed plan, and just starting goin at like deegs said. it took us about 4 hrs or so to complete the entire thing, we used that sand paint idea, but it doesnt look like its gonna last more than 5 hits. i think i kinda know what deegs is talkin about but not exactly sure, can you explain a bit more deegs about what the stuff is, is it like that soft sticky tar??
