ok guys, post here who's done what to their xr50s (pics are definately cool). What are the neccesary mods for jumpin/racing 50s and what are some sick things to do to make a sweet 50 ?? also what are the best companies for xr 50 gear? ie fast50s etc. ??

i get my fiddy in a week as we are in oz it is a little harder but the add in the current freerider mag is good i have followed it up and he will send you a parts list with prices for about ten bucks mostly fast 50s stuff as far as mods pipe for a little more grunt/pull fork springs for jumping blah blah u know wat i mean he was realy helpfull this is his rides or one he has done

he must know his stuff built a custom 4 speed manual box for his bike as you are in sydney try ballards they had high seat foam with cover for 130 bucks i think thats a fair price.

Yeah! Hopefully not for long tho.. I check ebay all the time to see if there's some used stuff, but not much comes up.. Im around 180 lbs and the stock susp works fine..

well, you can obviously see my forks. But they tweaked cause i ran into a fence pole almost 2nd pinned. I hear it's a pretty common problem though. I'm still working on bending them back.

i think u need diff bars that is the reason to getting the clamp so u can put better bars on.

its hard 2 find a bar that will fit btween the clamps and if u do bmx bars only have that gripy ingraving in the centre and they slip like mine(only if u over jump)they r same thickness bar

i got a graphics kit from throttle jockey 4 me 250 in 01 it was cheap even in our dollars but theres sum sort of tax import charge once it gets here and it was like $170 b4 customs here would send it 2 me

yeah there is a customs tax but if you get stuff at discounted prices it's heaps cheaper than retail in australia. i think the tax is around 20 percent but dont quote me on it, i got a bunch of shift gear sent over and it end up costing about au$800 including tax for 4 pairs of pants and about 10 jerseys

i was really pumped to get a 20mm and the 88 kit, but decided not to get it cause all my buddies are keeping theirs 50's... and i don't wanna absolutely smoke everybody when we moto. A guy from hondatrailmini.com or something like that told me my bike wouldn't even run with a 20mm carb. I thought i've heard that's a good mod to start with. so...?

i blew out my left wheel today. Broke about 10 of the spokes. Anyone know if I have to drill out the stock wheel holes to put in the beefy fast 50's spokes?

you can find aftermarket 50 rims on ebay cheaper than retail so thats an option.

I blew out my back wheel. When i tried a backlip i broke 4 spokes from tweakin' my rim. It's been downhill from there. Then today i was hitting this double that had no safety zone whatsoever for caseing it....cause we had pretty much no dirt. cased it and bam, now the hubs sittin' on the rim.


I haven't had much luck buying rims on ebay. a stocker is only $20 bucks so i was going to buy the fast50's spokes for $50 and put them together with a stock rim. any other suggestions?

The xr70 throttle tube has only 1 screw and a locating pin which is used for the hole that you have to drill into the bars.. The locating pin is not accurate and one screw isn't enough to keep the throttle from spinning.. Plus it's not full size and it doesn't turn 4/4 like a big bike..

all you need is a full size throttle tube assembly. only like 15 bucks compared to fast 50's or somethone else's $90. What's so nice about fast 50's throttle assembly is it's billet aluminum and the brake perch is built into the throttle, so no seperate perch is necessary.


I have fast 50's springs and shock in my 50. the only thing i can compare them to is BBR's kit. If i have to find a difference between the two i'd say BBR's is a tad softer. Ebay always has stiff springs for sale.

Norman, so you've got tapered bars for your 50? damn, high roller...:D the stock throttle cable will work, but it's a pain to get just right. buy a longer cable for 7 bucks.

The kill switch looks way out of place when you put it on, but the BBR kit definitely looks sweet. grips are pretty ghetto though.
