hey slider, what would u think about if I put a 3rd angle rail going down the middle of the ramp?? That would make the ramp real sturdy and I could use #9 expanded metal too couldn't I?
SevenInd., I'm using your pic. to show slider by what I mean, I give u mad props man!

i'm using 1.5"x1.5" .065 wall size square tubing. Also I should weld the middle rail in the middle of crossmembers shouldn't I. (like theres actually a 2ft. crossmember on left, & on the right.

If you had your rails pre-bent it would help. If you bent it like they did (nice job, by the way) it would probably push the middle up.
I still suggest a full sheet metal covering first but that is just one person's opinion. I did look at mesh today at the supplier but he had nothing that impressed me. But, they are not a big supplier, just the closest.

we are going to have them bent by a shop we know, its just 3 sheets of the sheet metal cost $125w/tax. Too expensive for our blood!! We got enuff tubing to do it, and were getting the #9 mesh. I think it would plenty strong enuff wouldn't it???

Aww, guys! I'm touched! :p
Anyways... it seems like it would be a good idea if you weren't planning on moving it so much. I mean... it just seems like a little extra weight to me. But it sure would be nice and stable.

Andrew... I hadn't seen our ramp since a few days after those pictures were taken (pathetic, isn't it?). It's at my friends house now with the axle pieces and everything put on, and guess what I noticed my friends did to the ramp? Yep... they put a third piece of steel straight down.. just how you thought.
I took some pictures of it tonight, and I should get them back tomorrow, but since they were taken at night, I don't know how good the lighting will be :(
If they're crappy I'll take my extra roll of film out and take some pictures in the daytime and have them real soon.
Peace.
