Willy Watts will ride in his first X Games!

Jun 22nd, 2009 By Chuck Carothers

Congrats on the invite for this years Best Trick at the X Games. Not many people know who you are just yet, so give me a little background about yourself.
I'm 23, I live in Broken Arrow Oklahoma. Been riding since age 4, and have been riding freestyle and doing demos for 6 years now.

I have done a few shows with you here in the south. Have you done much traveling for other events?
Yes, I've traveled quite a bit over the past 6 years. I did the intermission demos for the Canadian outdoor nationals for one summer. I also did the demos for the national arenacross series for 3 years under the US Air Force/ Team Faith banner. This past year I did the freestyle for Cycle City Promotions arenacross series in the south central states. I've also been traveling alot doing shows for United Fmx along side Terry Russel and Cody Elkins.

You showed me footage of you working on this new trick back in January, when did you start trying it in the pit?
My first attempt at this trick was last year around June. The trick is still in the early stages, I've had three days of pit time so far and I'm feeling pretty comfortable.

What gave you the idea for it?
I've been thinking of doing this trick for over 3 years. It basically originated from the thought of connecting a bar hop into a double grab.

You are one of the few Freestylers that has a regular job between shows, what is it that you do?
I turn wrenches during the week when I'm not riding or traveling.

Are you hoping this trick will open more doors for you and you won't have to spend so much time at the shop?
It would defiantly be a blessing to not have to work all week and focus more on riding.

I know you have had a few people helping you out so far with your FMX career, is there anyone you would like to thank?
God number one for giving me the ability. My family, Kenny Bartram, Kevin from IND-TEK solutions and his family. Dz Graphics, Factory Tech Racing, Terry Russel his family and United Fmx, Allen Parker and his family, Team Faith for there support over 5 years, Robby Mcquary, Dave Lyon, David Slesenger, Tod Hammack, and of course you Chuck!

Discuss it here!!
